A rare 18th Century Irish mahogany Architects Table, c. 1760, the lift up top with recessed book rest, rising on a ratchet ledge the sides with pull out candle stands, the front with heavy brass handle and lock plate pulling forward, with writing drawer opening to reveal a fitted interior, on chamfered and pillared legs with brass castors, 90cms (36") wide, 79cms (31cms) high. Kildare: A large Needlework Sampler, with letters, numbers and bible quotations by 'Rachel Louisa Connolly, aged 13 years, April, 1873, Castletown School, Celbridge," approx. 39cms x 29cms (15 1/2" x 11 1/2"); also a smaller ditto by the same artist, with embroidered decorations, fancy border, animal, tree and vase, both framed. A rare 18th Century Irish carved giltwood Wall Mirror, c. 1780, the oval plate surmounted by tall elaborate cresting with flower heads, leaves and scrolls and branches issuing from a neo-classical vase on top, height approx. 110cms (43") overall, with an early 19th Century label, 'J. Dufffy, Carver & Gilder, Bolton Street, Dublin' on reverse. (1)
Extremely Rare Maps of 18th Century Dublin Streets Maps: [Semple (Geo.)?] A Survey of the Present Streets Immediately leading to His Majesty's Royal Pallace or Castle of Dublin, Nov. ye 9th 1751, and A Design for Opening Proper Streets or Avenues to His Majesty's Royal Pallace etc in Dublin Jan. 15th 1753. An almost matching pair of engraved maps with wash colouring, approx. 63cms x 38cms (25" x 15"), hogarth frames. Extremely Rare. (2)
The Earliest Printed Plan of Dublin, 1728 Brooking (Charles) A Map of the City and Suburbs of Dublin, and also the Arch Bishop and Earl of Meath's Liberties with the Bounds of each Parish. Drawing from the Actual Survey made by Charles Brooking published by John Bowles, London, 1728. The map is dedicated to Lord Carteret, Lord Lieutenant at the time, and the top border includes a panoramic view: a Prospect of the City taken from the North, together with 20 interesting smaller views of notable buildings, etc., in the City, some of which have long since disappeared or been rebuilt. The Parish Boundaries are shown in colours. Size: 4 feet, 7 inches wide and 1 foot 11 inches height. Slight occasional time discolouration, a little creased along three folds, the 63cms (24 ½") high, 148cms (58"; 4'10") long upper portion of one fold skilfully repaired and with several minor neat marginal restorations, otherwise, for so large a map, in surprisingly well preserved state. Rare. (1) A plan of outstanding importance - the earliest to portray Dublin on a large and detailed scale. The engraved views are among the first existing of the City. This example is the second variety noted by Cosgrave and has a two columned table of names of buildings and includes 'Bowles Sculpt" below.
Taxidermy: "The School Room." An extremely fine and rare 19th Century diorama of a school room interior depicting a hedgehog as the school master at his desk, conducting a lesson to his class of weasels, squirrels, and kittens, one of whom is in the "Dunce's" corner, each holding a book, in a well decorated classroom, with maps of Ireland and only North America, pictures of animals, and an Act of Parliament Wall Clock, with glazed front, approx. 59cms (23") high, 80cms (31 1/2") wide; 30cms (12") deep. A rare late 18th Century mahogany Writing Table, c. 1790 possibly Irish, with velvet inset top, with three frieze drawers to the front and four frieze drawers to the back, on square chamfered and channelled legs, with pierced brackets, 92cms (36") deep, 163cms (5') long. (1) Provenance: Gormanstown Castle, Co. Meath.
Rare Original Architectural Drawings, c. 1779 Architecture: Cooley (Thos.) Detailed Original Drawings and Specifications for the Building of a Bridge, at Headford, Co. Meath, 1779, including, * Working Plan of Bridge * Working Elevation of Bridge * Mouldings at Large for the Pedestals at end of Bridge and one other drawing. Each approx. 59cms x 72cms (23" x 28"), and all signed and dated by artist, a portfolio. As drawings, w.a.f. (4) * Thomas Cooley 1740 - 1784, was born in London, but came to Ireland in 1768, after winning a competition for the design of Dublin's Royal Exchange, now City Hall. He was also commissioned for numerous other important projects, including, St. Patrick's Cathedral 1769, Newgate Prison, Ardbraccan House, 1772 - 1775, Caledon, Co. Armagh, 1779, Bishop's Palace, Killaloe, 1774, The Four Courts, 1768 - 1802. He also began another public project in O'Connell Street, but on his death at the age of 44, in Dublin, the project was handed over to Gandon, who completed it, to his own design, as The Four Courts. Cooley also worked at Headford, Co. Meath, 1769 - 1771, and the above designs are from that period. The bridge is now I believe, part of the new Golf Course. (1)

Approx. 57 photos, each mounted on card, in a hf. mor. album, lacks spine. (1) * Jane W. Shackleton (1843 - 1909) of Anna Liffey Ho. Lucan, was one of the most important early pioneering photographers in Ireland. She was an influential chronicler of late Victorian Ireland. She was also a first cousin of Sir Ernest Shackleton, Antarctic Explorer.

William Brocas Sketchbook Brocas (William), 1794-1868. A very good Sketchbook, small quarto, over 80pp of fine sketches in pencil and crayons, made during a Continental Tour encompassing Antwerp, Paris, & other cities c. 1840 - 41, including sketch portraits, of interesting characters, landscape scenes, copies of famous paintings and items of architectural interest, many identified (some in French), including a number of very good drawings, some of frameable quality. A rare set of three heavy matching Victorian, possibly Coalbrookdale, cast metal Garden Seats, now painted white, with elaborate shaped pierced and cast backs decorated with oak leaves and acorns on similar sides with dogs head handles, wooden seats and each on four paw feet, approx. 153cms (5') wide. The Marquess of Lansdowne's Rickshaw A very rare 19th Century Japanese Rickshaw, the lacquer body decorated with peacocks and birds, decorated brass fittings, and two large 18 spoke wheels, and with later leather seat. After Sir Joshua Reynolds, Engraved by James Watson "Charles James Fox, Lady Sarah Bunbury and Lady Susan Fox Strangeways," a fine mezzotint engraving, London c. 1762, approx. 64cms x 43.5cms (25" x 17 1/4"), hogarth type frame. Extremely Rare. (1) * Fox is shown here as a youth of thirteen, together with his cousin Lady Susan Fox Strangeways (1743 - 1827). They are walking in the garden of Holland House beneath a window, out of which Charles James's young aunt Lady Sarah Lennox (1745 - 1826) who married Sir Thomas Charles Bunbury, Bt. during the progress of this picture, is shown leaning forward and pointing to a dove, held up towards her by Lady Susan. Reynolds recorded a payment of £120 for the above oil painting.
An extremely rare early 19th Century full size Road / Family Coach, the fitted interior with decorated needlework fringe and on a elaborate carved turn style, with iron and leather suspensions, and with two 12 spoke wheels to front and two 14 spoke wheels to the rear, approx. 11'6" long and 6' wide at rear, and with hand painted coats of arms on both sides, by Charles Collinge, R. Tyrrell & Sons, Long Acre, London. (1) * Bears full Coat of Arms on both doors (in particular that of the Conyngham Family, Co. Meath).
An exceptionally rare pair of elaborate early 19th Century silver plated lead heraldic Crests, from a livery harness, each mounted with thick leather backing, and displaying the full coat of arms of the Rt. Hon. Charles Kendal Bushe, and his wife Anne (d. 1857), sister of Sir Philip Crampton Bt. Bushe, was appointed Lord Chief Justice of Ireland 1822 and died 1843. (2)
