Historique: Nous présentons une pièce unique dont la particularité la plus remarquable réside dans la qualité exceptionnelle du plateau. En effet, George Nakashima a réalisé de nombreux essais pour ce modèle, il voulait en effet doter sa création d`un plateau dont le veinage serait très exceptionnel. Pour ce faire il a choisi de privilégier un matériau rare, la loupe de chêne d`Angleterre, dont les nodosités et leurs adjonctions, visant à magnifier la nature, lui permettaient d`exprimer la force de son oeuvre. Le matériau était si fragile dans une telle dimension qu`aucune de ses tentatives ne fut couronnée de succès. Nous présentons donc la seule réalisation aboutie à l`issue de ce lent et fructueux parcours artistique. Here we see a unique piece whose most remarkable feature is the exceptional quality of the top. George Nakashima made several tests for this design, wanting each time to give his creation a top with exceptional veining. He settled on an English burr oak, whose knots and other features allowed him to express the force of his piece. The material was so fragile in such a large size that none of his attempts were successful. The present piece is, therefore, the only produced at the end of this long and fruitful artistic journey.
