Egypt - British Forces : (SG A10) 1935 Silver Jubilee 1p blue letter stamp in a fine mint block of eight, slightly off white gum, no tone spots, incredibly scarce muliple with six stamps unmounted, the lower left stamp (unmounted) shows constant variety thin ""N"" which occurs once in the setting of 10. Great Britain - QV (surface printed) : (SG 177as) 1883-84 10/-(K-B) rare cobalt on blued paper, with SPECIMEN overprint type 9, very fine mint, unobtrusive hinge trace, original gum. Usual trace of lightest original gum crease, superb colour, centring and appearance, magnificent and afforable example of the rare cobalt shade (normal cats at SG £62,000). A rare Regency gilt feather sewing box, of canted rectangular form, the hinged lid inset a coloured engraving of a church to a divided interior with a lidded compartment and two needle books, with a card inscribed `Samuel Mills, Darlaston Green, Iron & Steel Works, near Wednesbury, Staffordshire, Presented by J. Griffiths`, on foliate decorated gilt brass ball feet, 9cm high, 21.8cm wide, 17cm deep. Provenance: The Dr. Lawrie Webster Collection of Boxes.
COL. BOGEY WHISKY JUG. 7.5ins tall, brown & tan salt glaze jug ‘COL. BOGEY WHISKY’ in white raised lettering twice round shoulder, coat of arms to front ‘ROGANO’ t.m. Transferred both sides with golfing scenes ‘COLONEL BOGEY/ WHISKY’. Doulton Lambeth impressed mark to base. A fabulous, rare, offering. Very good. NR
LIVERPOOL AULD LANG SYNE WHISKY JUG (WG pg 15) 8ins tall, tan neck, pouring lip, rear handle, 3 men sat at table imbibing verse above. ‘AULD LANG SYNE’ transferred to rear with ‘T. F. ASHE & NEPHEW... LIVERPOOL’ impressed in sepia. Scarce shape - even better with rear wording! Very rare. Very good. NR
