THE FOLLOWING LOT RELATES TO THE CAREER OF RANGERS AND SCOTLAND INTERNATIONAL TOMMY `TULLY` CRAIG Tommy Craig made his League debut for Rangers against Clyde at Ibrox on 24th September 1923. In this match, he scored two goals and at the end of the season, he had scored a further 12 goals from 37 matches and helped Rangers to the Division 1 League Championship. More-or-less an ever-present for the Ibrox side during their fruitful period in the 1920s, Craig totalled 322 appearances for Rangers scoring 38 goals. He helped the side to 7 League Championship`s between 1923-24 and 1930-31 and appeared in 3 Scottish Cup finals, winning two winners medals. One of a rare breed of footballers who played for both Celtic and Rangers. Tommy started his footballing career with Tullibody F.C. (thus earning him his nickname `Tully` before joining Celtic in 1919. Britannia seated l. within oval band (S.3768; ESC.144; L&S 53), overstruck on a Seville 8 reales of Charles III dated 1772, good very fine and extremely rare Extremely rare with a Spanish rather than a Spanish American undertype. In his article ‘Bank of England Dollar Varieties - Part II’ (Spink Numismatic Circular, December 1999), Michael Dickinson says of the 1804 dollars: ‘I have yet to come across an identifiable undertype that had not been struck at one of the Spanish American mints’. In a December 2003 update to this article he records one example (see footnote to lot 286); the present coin and lot 286 are believed to be the second and third recorded examples.

Format of Birmingham Possibly the specimen mentioned in the notes to L&S 91, described as having been overstruck twice.

St. George and the dragon (S.3785C), lightly cleaned, about fine, extremely rare This most unusual piece seems to have a die flaw behind the king’s ear, giving the appearance of an extra leaf to the laurel wreath. It is the only specimen we have seen.
