* BRUCE PEARSON PPSWLA (BRITISH b 1950), THE BIEBRZA MARSHES, POLAND oil on canvas, signed 90cm x 70cm (approx 36 x 28 inches) Framed. Exhibited: London, The Mall Galleries, SWLA (Society of Wildlife Artists) 1994. Label verso: The Mall Galleries, 17 Carlton House Terrace, London. Inscribed with title, artist's name, address and date. Note: Since the early 1970s Bruce Pearson's paintings and prints have been widely exhibited in the UK and all over the world in many group and solo exhibitions. He has won numerous major international awards for his work. Pearson was elected President of the Society of Wildlife Artists (1994 – 2004) and subsequently joined the board of the Artists for Nature Foundation. In the earlier years of his career, much of Bruce’s work was largely as a freelance illustrator on a wide range of natural history books, magazines and journals, including writing and illustrating An Artist on Migration, one chapter of which – centered on West Africa – was subsequently filmed and shown on BBC2 television in a program (Beyond Timbuktu) which he presented. For the past 10 years Bruce’s work has largely involved private commissions from individuals, museums and institutions; and by invitation from the Artists for Nature Foundation ( ANF ). In 2005 Bruce received a commission from the Sultan of Oman for twelve major paintings and the following year was commissioned to paint a further fourteen. He had previously completed two mural commissions for the RSPB and a commission for twenty four works for The Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. Biebrza Marshes (Biebrza National Park) are one of Europe’s last natural lowland river valleys. They cover an area of over 1000 sq km of wetlands, peat bogs and bog forests in the far north-east of Poland and are protected by the Ramsar Convention. Saved from drainage by the non-intensive local farming, these fragile habitats became home for hundreds of rare species of birds, insects and plants that are now difficult to see anywhere else in Europe. This area also holds a large population of Elk (Moose), European Beavers and a few packs of Wolves.

* PETER GRAHAM ROI (SCOTTISH b 1959), DECORATIONS WITH FLOWERS oil on canvas, signed 58cm x 55cm Framed. Note: A very rare appearance at auction for one of Scotland's and the UK's most successful contemporary artists. Peter Graham was born in Glasgow in 1959. He attended the Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 1980. In 2000 Peter was elected to Full Membership of The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, R.O.I. Peter has earned a reputation as one of Britain’s most gifted and distinctive Modern Colourists. His work is often related to the Modern Scottish School but Peter has a flamboyant style which is unique, – detailed brush work combined with loose fluid strokes creating vibrant contrasts of pure colour, line and tone. In the winter months within his studio he delves deeply into the still life genre, creating some of his most stunning compositions, always with colour the dominant theme but reflecting the heightened sense of atmosphere and passion that comes directly from painting in the beauty of the Mediterranean. Recently, hugely successful exhibitions in London have allowed Peter to take on extra studio space and his work is being enthusiastically exhibited by many of the UK's most prestigious galleries.

Black camera with several film backs, numerous accessories.Up for auction is this unique and rare piece of U.S. military and photographic history- A Graflex XL/KS-98B army issue camera and outfit, in hard-shell military case. Originally released in 1965, the XL press camera was an ideal choice- press cameras were a balance between portability for capturing moving action and large, archival quality negatives for reprinting and enlargement- and Graflex made the best in the business. The XLs stayed in service till 1973, capturing many iconic images during the war. This example is in good cosmetic condition, has a Tessar 3.5 F100mm lens, and includes numerous original accessories- solid black flash bulb unit; handgrip with remote release and bracket pieces; several unexploded flash bulbs; filters and lens hood. It also contains the Graflok back, which allows quick changing among several of the included film backs- a 120 roll film RH/10 back; a 220 RH/20 back; and the rare RH/50 70mm back, which used canned 70mm film cartridges favored by the U.S. military since the 1940's. Several straps, a polaroid format accessory viewfinder, and the matching set of keys for the hardcase locks are also inside. Issued: 1965-1973 Dimensions: 18.5"L x 8.5"D x 11"H, in case Edition Number: 40329G7 Manufacturer: Graflex/Singer Country of Origin: United States Condition: Age and use related wear, as-is

Lot 110

Rare half-frame box design with original 35mm cartridges. The Agfa-Ansco Memo was a unique piece of early photographic design based more on 35mm cinema camera than most still cameras. Designed when 35mm film wasn't considered practical for still photography, in the same decade Leica made their own bid to change consumers' minds on the format, the Memo has a clever linear advance similar to how cinema cameras feed their film. An auto-cocking shutter, 5 shutter speeds and 4 aperture settings, top mounted viewfinder, frame counter, and tote handle complete the look. Such cameras were highly praised by American Boy Scouts at the time who, like European Leica users, saw the brilliant benefits of a lightweight 35mm camera for backpacking and mountaineering- a movement which would soon relegate large format cameras to portrait studios and fashion shows. Comes with a suede leather case. Issued: 1920s Dimensions: 2.25"L x 2.75"D x 5"H Manufacturer: AGFA Ansco Country of Origin: United States Condition: Age and use related wear, as-is

A number of early amateur and professional formats emerged in this gulf, and Pathex's 9.5mm was a popular if ultimately unsuccessful one. This lost relic from the early days of motion picture, with its glass-lined take-up gate and matching, hand cranked camera, is a wonder of early electro-mechanical engineering- and a rare treat for the collector of cinematic curiosities. Lot 4

Large mahogany/brass 5"x7" plate; with focal glass, bulb remote.Splendidly furnished plate or view-camera, manufactured by Seneca Camera Co. in Rochester, NY during the first decade of the 20th century. While the Seneca company would eventually transition into folding camera designs along the lines of Kodak, their early work in traditional plate cameras is exquisite- the same venerable designs that captured images of Buffalo Bill, Yellowstone park, and the first electric lights to illuminate the nights in Rochester. This varnished mahogany Competitor model, with uprated Duo dual release shutter, is in good cosmetic and even mechanical condition- all hinges and locking nuts/thumbscrews tighten, loosen, and shift as expected. The original ground glass focusing plate is intact, its spring clips still flexible and awaiting a fresh photographic plate. The lens is not cracked, and easily removes- as does the entire front plate and shutter mount- for easy cleaning and service. The bellows, often destroyed by age in cameras of this vintage, are tight, flex easily, and have no visible exterior cracks. The shutter cocks and fires, and although shutter speeds cannot be verified, the Bulb and Time features work as expected- even the original rubber bulb remote, virtually always rotten with time and moisture, is intact and still fires the shutter on this rare find. Verdigris and patina present on a few components, this otherwise splendid piece of photographic and American history would make an ideal display, intact as it is- and just as easily, a fine tool for the enterprising collector who wishes to expose a fresh 5X7 sheet, a century after Seneca put on the final coat of varnish. Issued: 1900s Dimensions: 14.5"L x 9"D x 11.5"H, fully extended Manufacturer: Seneca Camera Mfg. Co. Country of Origin: United States Condition: Age and use related wear, as-is

Legendary camera with 35, 50, 135mm lens, accessory viewfinders.Introduced in 1955 and in direct competition to the successful rangefinder cameras of Leica and Canon, the Nikon S2 is considered by many to be the first truly fantastic Nikon camera. Rugged, capable, and beautifully formed, the S2 featured a broad range of slow and fast shutter speeds, a bigger brighter viewfinder/rangefinder than its competitors, built-in helical focusing system and a very precise flash synchronization. The success of the S2 would lead to many successors- and within the next 15 years, Nikon would be producing cameras that were on their way to the Moon and considered to be the de facto professional brand forphoto journalists. This S2 (Nikon serial 6176716) is a feast for the eyes to collectors and admirers alike- equipped with a chrome Nikkor-H.C 2.0 50mm Lens with Waltz UV filter and detachable Nikon metal hood, and decked in its original leather full-case. Lot also includes an original W-Nikkor 3.5 F35mm Wide lens (no. 440727) and a Nikkor Q.C 3.5 F135mm Tele lens with detachable hood. Both lenses have their original front and rear caps from Nikon, both come in original leather lens cases with straps, andboth also come with their counterpart Nikon accessory viewfinders in leather cases- the 135mm finder is adjustable for focus range correction. Such complete system collections are a rare find today. The following is observed- the lenses are without obvious signs of cracking or coating loss. Focus and aperture diaphragms move smoothly and feel acceptably lubricated given their age and state. The camera's advance lever winds, and the shutter fires- function of all speeds and accuracy unaccounted, no CLA. Internal focus helical is smooth and tight. Inner film gate and shutter cloth appear to be in near-new cosmetic condition with no obvious sign of pin-holing or kinks. Brightline viewfinder is clear and bright. Light tightness and advanced lens optics diagnosis remains untested. Issued: 1955-1957 Dimensions: 10"L x 5"D x 8"H Edition Number: 6176716 Edition Size: 56000 Manufacturer: Nippon Kogaku K. K. (Nikon) Country of Origin: Japan Condition: Age and use related wear, as-is
