AerostaticaAerostatica Italiana, "antichi" e precursori. L'aerostatica in Italia ebbe lontane origini. Dopo la Francia, l'Italia fu la seconda nazione a fornire un contributo scientifico e sportivo fondamentale alla attività del più leggero dell'aria. In questo lotto sono rappresentati nel modo migliore tutti gli eventi aerostatici che si verificarono a partire dagli ultimi decenni dell'Ottocento e fino al 1905. Si tratta di uno dei periodi dei quali, paradossalmente, esistono meno documenti, assai meno di quelli del periodo antico. Questo insieme comprende circa 100 pezzi di particolare pregio e rarità, di cui molti, sopratutto cartoline illustrate, ricercati dai collezionisti; particolarmente belle e rare le cartoline relative all'Esposizione di Torino 1898, tra cui un rarissimo esemplare viaggiato. Sono presenti anche tessere di ingresso e manifestini lanciati da bordo dei palloni in volo. Pregevolissimi i documenti su Cirillo Steffanini, tutti autografi, tra i quali spicca un cartoncino che egli lanciava dalla mongolfiera durante le sue esibizioni al trapezio, un pezzo davvero unico, firmato e datato dall'aeronauta. Completano il lotto: le prime cartoline del lancio del pallone di San Marcello Pistoiese, rare cartoline del pallone Gigante e del Centauro a Genova, degli aeronauti Zambianchi e Quaglia, che come Steffanini si esibivano compiendo volteggi al trapezio, appesi al pallone privo di controllo, e un biglietto per assistere a un'ascensione di Francesco Orlandi. Interessante un campione di tessuto del dirigibile Leonardo da Vinci di Forlanini. Tutti i pezzi sono ben documentati e spesso sono accompagnati da ritagli di giornali dell'epoca con la cronaca dell'evento. Imperfection in bottom left corner and slight vertical crease through adhesive at left; vertical slit on front and part of back of cover.
