Signiert, betitelt und im Stein signiert. Zusätzlich mit zwei schwer leserlichen Sammlervermerken. - Guter Zustand. Prachtvoller und kräftiger Druck. Die formatfüllende Darstellung mit breitem Rand. Selten. In den Jahren 1911/12 geht Emil Orlik auf Reise und besucht unter Anderem auch Ägypten. Die entstandenen Skizzen fangen die Eindrücke Emil Orliks ein, viele von ihnen wurden dann als Lithographien bzw. Radierungen veröffentlicht. Die Arbeiten geben gekonnt die unvermittelten Eindrücke des Weltenreisenden wieder. Lithograph on wove paper. Signed, titled and signed in the stone. Punktuell unter Passepartout montiert. - Leicht unregelmäßig gebräunt und wenige leichte Knick- und Knitterspuren in Rändern, am unteren Rand Papierausriss (ca. 3,5 cm), punktueller Farbfleck an drei Stellen der Darstellung, wohl von eh. Lagerung, verso in zwei Rändern winzige Spuren eh. Montierung, insgesamt gut. Ausgesprochen prachtvoller, tiefschwarzer, samtener und klarer Druck mit schmalem Rand, rechts mit dem Schöpfrand. Schiefler/Mosel 27 III. - Provenienz: Galerie Elfriede Wirnitzer, verso auf der Passepartoutrückseite mit deren typographischem Etikett. - Der dritte von insgesamt fünf Druckzuständen. Schiefler/Mosel nennen für unseren Zustand zwar keine Auflage, es dürften aber nur wenige Abzüge erschienen sein. - Meisterlich arbeitet Nolde den Kopf des jungen Priesters im Dreiviertelprofil heraus, schnitzt es aus dem Holz als trete es durch die von ihm angelegten Konturen aus dem Dunkel des Hintergrunds hervor. Entstanden in der nur kurz währenden Zeit als "Brücke"-Mitglied, fällt es in das für Noldes Holzschnitte schwerpunktmäßige Jahr 1906. Selten. Woodcut on laid paper. Signed and dated. Spot-mounted to mat. - Slightly irregularly browned and with a few slight crease marks in margins, paper tear at lower margin (ca. 3.5 cm), isolated colour stain in two spots in depiction, seemingly from previous storage, tiny traces from previous mounting in two margins on the verso, all in all good. Extremely splendid, deep-black, velvety and clear impression with narrow margin, deckle edge on the right. - Provenance: Galerie Elfriede Wirnitzer, on mat's verso with typographical label. - Third of of five print states. Schiefler/Mosel do not mention an edition for our state but only a few prints were most probably published. - Nolde masterfully works out the head of the young priest in three-quarter profile, carving it out of the wood as if it emerges from the darkness of the background through the contours he creates. Made during his short time as a member of the "Brücke", it falls into the for Nolde's woodcuts important year of 1906. Rare.

Weltkriegs mit den Figuren ausgesprochen plastisch herausgearbeitet. Drypoint with aquatint on light wove cardboard. Signed, dated and titled as well as inscribed. In Passepartout und unter Glas (beidseitig) gerahmt. - Punktuelles Löchlein und leichte Wölbung innerhalb der Darstellung, Löchlein als Atelierspuren des Malkartons, Wölbung mit leichtem Krakelee, verso Atelierspuren und Reste eh. Klebeetiketts, unter UV keine Retuschen, insgesamt sehr gut. Die Farben frisch und pastos. Provenienz: Direkt vom Künstler erhalten, seitdem in Berliner Privatbesitz. - Selbstbewusst und mit einem Anflug strengen, wenngleich eindringlichen Blickes erfasst sich der junge, etwa 30-jährige Künstler. Gepflegt ist er mit seinem ordentlich aufgebauschten Haar, die Kleidung sitzt tadellos, unter dem mantelartigen Malerkittel lugt ein strahlendweißes Hemd hervor. Das eigene Bildnis dient Melzer, wie vielen Malerkollegen vor ihm, nicht nur als Mittel zur Selbstpräsentation, sondern auch der Reflexion. Er greift zu breiter Farbpalette gemischter Töne im Stile des Expressionismus, wählt bewusst die avantgardistische Tendenz seiner Zeit. Es entsteht ein eindrückliches Zeugnis eines der begabtesten Künstler des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts in unverwechselbarer malerischer Handschrift. He focuses both on close-ups of the hotel complexes and on details, showing a standardised, normed and curated artificial world called Gran Canaria. Gefeller chooses his details in such a way that they expose the ideas of hotel managers and mass tourism about what holidays, relaxation - the island of Gran Canaria - should look like. The vast hotel silos, the artificially heaped up beach facilities, the kilometre-long batteries of deckchairs, plants that are supposed to bring some fresh greenery in large boxes in hotel facilities instead of being able to grow and flourish outdoors, but also the details of flip-flops and reserved deckchairs by towels, all these facets also illuminate people's need for a clean, carefree world. Gefeller sees through this (nightmare) dream world and captures it in his photographs.
