A rare English delftware King of Prussia plate c.1757-60, painted in blue with a portrait of Frederick II of Prussia between the initials KP, and an early delftware lobed dish left in the white, both extensively damaged and repaired, 29.7cm max. (2) Cf. Leslie B Grigsby, The Longridge Collection, Vol. II, D56 for a similar King of Prussia plate.
Five Lowestoft blue and white saucers c.1770-80, one painted with small buildings in a Chinoiserie landscape, one with a rare pattern of flowering peony issuing from a zig-zag fence, three painted with the Mansfield pattern, one with an open crescent mark, another with a workman's mark, 12.7cm max. (5) Cf. Simon Spero, The Simpson Collection of Eighteenth Century English Blue and White Miniature Porcelain, p.34 for a teapot in the peony and fence pattern.
A small Worcester bell-shaped mug c.1760, printed in black with a rare print of The Harvesters by Robert Hancock, three figures holding rakes and pitchforks and chatting after a hard day's work, the reverse with The Minuet after a design by Francis Hayman, some faults, 8.3cm. Cf. Phillips, The Norman Stretton Collection, 21st February 2001, lot 28 for a restored mug with the same prints.
A large and rare Worcester blue and white two-handled sauceboat c.1755-60, painted to the interior with the Two-Handled Sauceboat Landscape, with two boats beside small pagodas on rock strata, the exterior with further landscape vignettes within crisply moulded leafy borders, the handles modelled with grotesque animal heads, workman's mark, a small rim chip, 22.5cm across. Cf. Bonhams, The Geoffrey Godden Collection of Blue and White Porcelain, 30th June 2010, lot 57 for an identical sauceboat with the same workman's mark.
A pair of large Wedgwood creamware circular chargers late 18th century, and an oval Hanley creamware charger, all well painted in bright enamels with large exotic birds perched on and around short berried branches, within shaped rims, one impressed Wedgwood, the oval charger with a rare mark for Samuel Perry and a London wholesaler, together with another dish bearing the same mark and printed in black with a lady and two children in a garden, some damages, 46cm max. (4) Provenance: the Geoffrey Godden Reference Collection.
A Worcester blue and white moulded sauceboat c.1765, painted with the Little Fisherman pattern within strap-moulded panels, the interior with a simple flower spray, some rim faults, 15.5cm.The Little Fisherman pattern is a rare condensed version of the Fisherman and Billboard Island pattern which appears on the smaller sizes of sauceboat.
A rare Worcester blue and white teabowl and saucer c.1785, of generous size, decorated in the Trellis Lily pattern with a formal arrangement of stylized blooms within panels, open crescent marks, 12.3cm. (2) The Trellis Lily pattern bears a strong resemblance to the Royal Lily, but is complete in itself without the gilding. Very few examples are recorded.
A rare Worcester blue and white chocolate cup and saucer c.1757, the large ogee forms painted with the Departing Chinaman pattern, a solitary figure crossing a bridge away from a pagoda on a small island, within a formal foliate and hatched diaper border, workman's marks, some damages, 16cm. (2) Illustrated: Branyan, French and Sandon, Worcester Blue and White Porcelain, p.132 (the saucer) where it is stated to be one of only two known to exist at the time of writing. The cup exhibited by Robyn Robb, 2005, cat. no.26 and paper label for same.
A rare Chinese porcelain armorial dish dated 1791, of small size, painted with the quartered arms of Chadwick within blue and gilt borders, the reverse inscribed 'Canton in China 24th Jan. 1791', 15.9cm. The arms are those of the old Staffordshire family of Chadwick quartering the ancient family coats of Malvesym, Carden and Bagot. Cf. D.S.Howard, Chinese Armorial Porcelain, Vol II, W1, p.741. A small collection of Chinese export porcelain tea wares 2nd half 18th century, decorated in the Mandarin palette with scenes of Chinese figures in garden settings, within elaborate scrolled borders of landscape panels and floral motifs on gilt or diaper grounds. Comprising: a saucer dish, a milk jug, a rare salt, two saucers, a coffee cup and an ogee shape cup. (7) Elements of the designs shown here were picked up and recreated on New Hall (especially the Boy in the Window pattern), and also on Swansea pieces from c.1815-17 which echoed the elaborate border as well as the palette used. Provenance: from the Geoffrey Godden Reference Collection.
A rare engraved commemorative rummer dated 1853, the flared bucket bowl engraved in detailed diamond point by Thomas Sutherland of London, with two Royal coats of arms, one above the initials JW, with a ship, a coach and horses, a paddle steamer titled Queen, a view of Windsor Castle, and two poems, engraved with the date 1853, 14cm.

An early 20th century Burmese bowl,by Maung Yin Maung, Rangoon c.1910,stamped 'MAUNG YIN MAUNG MASTER SILVER SMITH 29 GODWIN ROAD RANGOON' to base, of circular form decorated in high relief with Jataka scenes with a frieze above of arching ‘clouds’ terminating in ogres' heads typical of the work of this silversmith,23cm diameter at widest, 20cm diameter at top of bowl, 15cm high, 37ozThis lot is sold with ‘Silver from the Indian Sub-Continent and Burma during Ninety years of British Rule', Wynyard R T Wilkinson, London 1999, where there is a similar bowl illustrated p.43.Mr Wilkinson writes that it was rare to find a piece signed in English, indicating that it was probably an exhibition piece.
A rare 19th century Indian Colonial silver tankard,by Hamilton & Company, Calcutta c.1840, marked on base with maker’s mark, elephant, urn, Roman A and a thistle tally mark, of panelled cylindrical form on a laurel leaf spreading circular foot, with an Indian Colonial Bacchus-style mask terminating in a cornucopia handle, the detachable domed cover with finial, gilt interior,21.5cm high, 40ozHamilton & Co. was one of the best known British silver firms, established by Robert Hamilton in Calcutta in 1808 under licence from the East India Company. Known as the ‘Garrard of India’, the firm mainly produced tableware including complete tea and dinner services in a typical pre-Raj, British-Indian style.

A postcard album containing a large quantity of early 20th century local and WWI related postcards including a quantity relating to Lulworth Military Camp, the Military Camp at Wool, Dorset, Lulworth Castle, WWI Bovington Camp related postcards including group photos of Company Regiments outside barracks and interior barrack shots, many of the cards written and notated to reverse, the Bovington Camp and Wareham Camp selections depicting a rare glimpse of life in these camps. The album also contains later local related postcard views and also early 20th century pictorial views of local scenes including Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and others. An extremely interesting documentary collection.
An early 17th Century burr oak credence table, the folding octagonal top upon an arcaded frieze set with split balusters on turned legs and gate and with platform stretcher, 91cm wide/see illustration Condition Report: New piece let into the top at front edge, leg scouring mark to top which is in line with hinged leg, interior new piece let into lower board right and front, split balusters and carved arch later. I believe that the inset pieces in top are original to this piece pieces of burr oak of this size are rare and the carpenter wanted to use as much of the timber as he could.

HIH The Dowager Empress Maria Feodovna of Russia and HM The Dowager Queen Alexandra - rare dual signed Presentation portrait photograph of the two Royal sisters in formal pose, holding hands, signed and dated in ink 'Maria 1914 Alexandra', the unframed portrait by W, & D, Downey, London, in original folder with gilt embossed Royal Coat of Arms and By Appointment to cover, 47cm x 31cm. In May 1914 The Dowager Empress travelled to England to visit her sister, The Dowager Queen Alexandra and while she was in London, the First World War broke out forcing her to hurry back home to Russia CONDITION REPORT Outer cover a little dirty and corners tatty. The image and mount are in very good original condition with some minor foxing marks to mount. The signatures and date are very clear and have been protected by the original tissue paper inner leaf
