A scarce WWII Second World War RAF Royal Air Force MI9 / SOE issued miniature brass ' escape ' telescope - as issued to airmen likely to find themselves in occupied territory. The miniature brass telescope being a two draw variation. Comes as-issued within an ' England's Glory ' matchbox. Rare item.  From the collection of the late Arthur Muggeridge - Arthur T. Muggeridge, born 18th December 1919 - it’s thought he spent most of WW2 in the Royal Artillery and was at Dunkirk in 1940 during the evacuations and was minorly injured by Luftwaffe bombing whilst on one of the navy ships. He later took part in a special raid called Operation Claymore 4th March 1941 in Norway where he was injured once again in the leg by shrapnel. Later again, he was injured a third time when a field artillery gun misfired causing deafness which is believed to have resulted in him being discharged from the military. In his later life he collected mainly military items and particularly spy / clandestine objects. An incredibly rare original WWII Second World War MI9 issued secret message ' Bolt '. Unmarked bolt, with a ' secret ' removable unscrewable head which reveals a small inner compartment. Bigger than other known examples, possibly for explosives or film use. Used by the British and French agents in occupied France to hide messages. Measures approx; 9cm when fully screwed in. The small reel of green wire (for camouflage purposes) retains the original label which reads ' Trip Wire - Important - Run Wire Through Finger And Thumb To Remove Kinks Before Use '. A rare WWII Second World War period silk ' escape ' map of Borneo, Sumatra and Java. Double sided, the map printed on silk. Appears to be undated, but presumed c1944 (many areas marked '44'). Measures approx; 63x97cm.  During World War II, the United States and Great Britain produced in excess of 3.5 million silk maps and cloth maps for Allied military personnel to use as escape maps.  In 1940, the British military intelligence unit, known as MI 9, started issuing silk maps for use by British aircrews shot down over enemy occupied territory in Europe.  The silk maps were intended to assist airman in evading capture.  MI 9 also smuggled silk and tissue paper escape maps into POW camps in Germany along with other escape aids to encourage POWs to attempt escape. An incredibly rare WWII Second World War era believed Free France / French Resistance ' Collaborators' Death Coffin ' warning object. The crudely carved coffin featuring a sliding lid which opens to reveal a carved skeleton with articulated hips. To the top of the coffin is affixed a crude brass ' Cross of Lorraine '. Measures approx; 13cm long. These ' Warning Coffins ' or ' Death Coffins ' were believed to have been sent to those who collaborated with the Germans as a means of showing the resistance was watching them. Other examples exist in the hands of private collectors, museums, and the Imperial War museum.

The brush being a standard clothes brush, the top removable via two pins and reveals a small hacksaw blade, in a specially dug-out compartment. Rare and interesting item. An unusual WWII Second World War related ex-museum display Parachute Supply Pigeon. The display comprising of a dummy pigeon, strapped within what appears to be an original 1944 dated War Department issued pigeon carrier, and affixed to a miniature parachute. Ex-display. A rare and interesting item.  During the war pigeons were dropped in small containers attached to a parachutes into occupied Europe. Locals who found the birds sent messages back advising of the status of the Germans in their locality.  Many of the pigeons flew over four hundred miles to deliver their secrets. The box of mahogany construction, with a shaped globular metal collector to top, which feeds down to an opening drawer beneath. Affixed to the front is an original ' Air Raid Warden ' enamel plaque with notation. An unusual piece of civil defence history. Measures approx; 39cm tall.

The flag being a single panel stitched example, with faint markings visible to the seam. Some wear from use. Appears to still retain a makeshift toggle made from an American pistol lanyard. A rare Italian war related flag. Measures approx; 116x168cm. Provenance; purchased by the vendor's grandfather from a family in Italy shortly after the war, and provenance passed down.

An incredibly rare and unique hand written day-by-day log of events during 1943 in the Second World War. The diary spanning a complete lined notepad. Completely filled with hand written notes from 1st Jan 1943 until Friday Dec 31st. It's original writer being a Mr C. L. Stainer of South Devon, has described every single offensive, loss and attack (often in great detail) by hand. The entries are dated in sequential order, and most contain period newspaper cuttings relating to the entry. Information appears to have been gleaned from wireless announcements and periodicals. Every RAF Royal Air Force attack, every Naval skirmish is mentioned. .A truly unique and fascinating document of the Second World War.

To the corner is written ' Flag obtained 30th August 1945 - In Hong Kong - When the Japanese surrendered to British Forces - God Save The King ' with a 'victory' hand symbol drawn. A rare and unique piece of history. Flag measures approx; 72x95cm. Provenance; originally purchased by the vendor from a member of the Royal Navy Marine party who was aboard HMS Swiftsure during the period, and who owned and inscribed this flag.

The flag being a 48 star variation of linen construction, with each star stitched to the flag. The seam with faint markings ' USS LCIL-94 ' and dated 1944. A British War Department label still remains fixed to the flag which is dated 1944 and marked for an Officer. Measures approx; 82x136cm After the initial landings at Normandy USS LCI(L)-94 directed trans-channel traffic and escorted landing craft until departing England, 5 October 1944, for Charleston, S.C. and two month availability. Assigned to LCI Flotilla 35 for Asiatic-Pacific duty USS LCI(L)-94 departed Charleston, 15 December 1944, for Little Creek, VA. and Solomon Island, MD. for amphibious training. USS LCI(L)-94 departed Norfolk, VA., 28 December 1944, for San Diego, via Key West and Panama Canal, arriving, 23 January 1945, for assignment to the Ship Training Group, Naval Repair Base for amphibious training. USS LCI(L)-94 departed San Diego, 8 April 1945, for Okinawa, via Pearl Harbor, Eniwetok, Guam and Ulithi. Arriving, 30 May 1945

A rare set of original 1930's / 1940's Third Reich Nazi Germany wax candles in original box, by repute removed from the Fuhrerbunker by a British soldier. The box decorated with a label to reverse which features a printed message from Adolf Hitler. The label depicts the German eagle, with Swastika motif. x10 unused candles still remain within the box. By repute this box of candles was recovered from the Fuhrerbunker by a Royal Artillery soldier serving in the British Army. No provenance supplied (story passed through generations of family). A rare and unusual item, with some interesting history. Each candle approx; 18cm tall.

The Red Baron aircraft section - An incredible and important section of canvas reputedly from WWI First World War German flying ace ' The Red Baron's ' Fokker Triplane 425/17, downed in Amiens, April 1918 .The section of fabric being a period remnant of aircraft / plane canvas, with red paint to one side. Framed in a vintage frame with typed text ' fabric section from Richtofens crashed or l 1 425/17 that was shot down over the somme on 21st April 1918 (sic) '.  Fabric size approx; 13x17cm. A rare and important part of First World War aviation history. Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen (2 May 1892 – 21 April 1918), also known as the "Red Baron", was a fighter pilot with the German Air Force during World War I / First World War. He is considered the ace-of-aces of the war, being officially credited with 80 air combat victories.

HM Queen Mary (Mary of Teck, 1867 - 1953 - wife of King George V - a rare autographed handwritten letter on York House, St James's Palace headed paper thanking Lady York and the Citizens of Bath for a gift - likely for her wedding just some weeks previous. Dated July 29th 1893, Mary writes ' Dear Lady York, I have just received the beautiful diamond sun (?) from the citizens and ladies of Bath and I hasten to ask you to convey to these my heartfelt thanks for their kindness in giving me so lovely a present. Believe me dear Lady York, yours very sincerely, Mary '. Later framed. Complete with original envelope to reverse. Rare and interesting personal letter from Queen Mary of Teck.

Believed to be some kind of ' sample ' presentation - the framed display features an original unused brass tin, and is mounted alongside 'presentation' versions of the contents (the paper items printed on thick card for display). Also includes the most sought-after item issued within these tins - the Officer's tobacco pipe. All unused. Framed in a period diamond box frame, with framers label to reverse. The tankard engraved to front ' Kuala Lumpur September 1945 ' and features the RAF eagle and crown, the reverse engraved for an ' F. Taylor - 154 S. P. RAF '. Presumed to be that of 154 Squadron. Makers marks to base for Malaya. A rare piece of RAF history. Measures approx; 11cm tall.

The artwork appearing to be that of a bomb with Nazi Swastika to end. A rare piece of WWII aviation, from a rare aircraft. Measures approx; 55cm tall.

The original taker - an unknown serviceman - appears to have been based in the Middle East or North Africa, possibly part of the medical corps. Photographs of note include; several group photographs of him and pals (in uniform and civilian clothing), several photographs involving WWI vehicles, scenery, barracks and life within the barracks, lots of photographs of ships - largely hospital ships (including some potentially showing HMHS Britannic or Aquitania), several of early aircraft (including a few accidents), photographs of torpedos being loaded aboard a vessel, an interesting photograph of x3 submarines in harbour (including E48), photographs taken at sea of crew members and general life, a rare photograph of a very early ' Airborne Aircraft Carrier ' (a Zeppelin / Airship with biplane affixed underneath), a photograph of military messenger pigeons, and others. A hugely interesting album. To the rear of the album is a large regimental photograph, and three humorous political cartoon drawn by the original owner. Interesting album of candid photographs. Printed by H.T.& Co, and published by The Parliamentary Recruiting Committee. Poster No.1. Some folds and general staining, and a small amount of loss to one corner. Measures approx 75x51cm. Rare.

An incredible opportunity to own an iconic piece of motoring history - one of the earliest Mk1 Ford Capri 1600 GT XLR's on the road. Registration: UYD 99G - First Registered March 1969. Blue with black bonnet. One of the earliest Ford Capris made, the chassis dating to January 1969 - manufactured at the Ford Halewood plant in Merseyside. Production had only just started at the factory when this example rolled off the line, and in the same month the Ford Capri was launched at the Brussels Motor Show where it was seen in public for the first ever time. This Capri has been beautifully restored in 2018 to a very high standard, at an estimated cost of around £20k. Hundreds of hours were spent on spent on the bodywork, chassis, interior engine and electrics - making sure this vehicle was just right. Matching numbers vehicle, retaining the original registration number and sweet running engine.Records show that only eight cars remain of this model and year in the UK and the Ford Owner's Club also confirmed that this is one of the oldest and rarest Capris left in existence today. Although both Tax and MOT exempt,this Capri has an MOT until 22/11/2020 and the vendor is keen to point out its passing with NO advisories. A partial file of history is also supplied, including old MOTs and receipts from the restoration etc. A truly stunning example, and the earliest Ford Capri available on the market. A scarce original WWII Second World War early-issue British Airborne / Paratrooper issued ' fibre ' helmet. The helmet largely of steel construction, with a fibre rim and original liner with chin strap present. Original green paint remains, as well as the foam padding. A rare early complete British airborne helmet.

A rare original WWII Second World War Third Reich Nazi German Army M35 steel infantry helmet. Single decal variation, the rim stamped ' DN88 ' to rear and ' NS64 ' to side - made by Vereinigte Deutsche Nikelwerke, Schwerte. Retains original leather liner and chin strap. Generally an excellent used example - some scratches to top, and a small dent to the top dead centre above the rim (see pictures). Otherwise a rare example. 

Lot 12

RMS Titanic Disaster - a rare and unique Italian oil on board panel painting titled ' Angela Gravina - Salva Per Miracolo Nel Disastro Del Titanic - 15 April 1912 ' (Angela Gravina - Miraculously Saved In The Titanic Disaster). The painting depicts RMS Titanic slipping beneath the waves, whilst several survivors surround in both the water, and a lifeboat. Icebergs surround the scene, as well as a distant sail boat. A depiction of Jesus is seen to the corner, and a central figure is raised (as if flying) to the centre. One figure in the water has a hand-drawn arrow pointing to her (presumably this is Gravina). The painting has unfortunately suffered some loss over the years with one corner particularly affected. It appears to have been later varnished to protect any more paint from coming away. Little is known about 'Angela Gravina' who also may just be Angela FROM Gravina (a region of South Italy). A rare and unusual piece of White Star Line / Titanic memorabilia. Measures approx; 28cm x 45cm.

An incredibly rare original WWII Second World War steel Brodie helmet from the Vicker's Engine factory. The helmet featuring the notation for ' Vicker Marine ' to front with an image of a Spitfire. Also noted as ' FG ' which is presumed to be for a Fire Guard. The helmet is dated 1941 to the rim, and retains the original inner liner and chin strap. A rare piece of WWII history.

Sir Alec Guinness (1914-2000) - English Actor - 'Bridge Over The River Kwai' - a rare autographed First Day Cover ' Royal Air Forces - Escaping Society '. Signed neatly in fountain pen ink to a white portion of the cover. Accompanied by the original notecard certificate. Rare autograph. Guinness played Colonel Nicholson in the famous 1957 film.

A rare WWI First World War British 1907 pattern Lee Enfield sword bayonet having shaped wooden grips, hooked steel pommel, press release stud, forward facing quillon, muzzle hole, long fullered steel single edged blade, Ricasso with royal cypher marks and 1907 to the other side along with a leather scabbard. Measures; 57cm in total.Note leather scabbard detached from steel throat. 

Lot 141

A scarce original WWII Second World War No.3 Commando D Troop uniform cloth patch. The small patch of square form, featuring a white skull inside a blue letter ' D ' on a green cloth ground. A rare patch.  No. 3 Commando was a battalion-sized Commando unit raised by the British Army during the Second World War. Formed in July 1940 from volunteers for special service, it was the first such unit to carry the title of "Commando". Shortly afterwards the unit was involved in a largely unsuccessful raid upon the German-occupied Channel Island of Guernsey.
