An extremely rare Silver Medal to commemorate the Proclamation of theKingdom in 1882. Round medallion surrounded by a laurel wreath 57x31 mm,the double headed royal eagle with half-out stretched wings is attachedto the top of the medallion with the royal crown above. The obverse ofthe medal bears the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Serbia and the reversehas a four line inscription: “TO THE RESTORERS/OF THE KINGDOM OF SERBIA/GRATEFUL/FATHERLAND”, with its original ribbon. It was founded on 29 December 1951 and awarded to “military commanders who show personal courage, self-sacrifice, involvement in commanding and distinct role in creation, fixing and training of Armed Forces of SFRY during the war” (translated from the decree of institution). In the period 1951-1984, it was conferred 209 times only, of which 204 to Yugoslavs and the further 5 to SovietGenerals.Note: Dušan Ćorković, born in 1921, was among the first fighting in the Yugoslavian Partisan Forces and in the organization of the Communist Party, he was active in the struggle against German and Italian forces throughout the war. At the war’s end and in the months immediately after, he was responsible of atrocities against the Italian ethnic component in Dalmatia and against prisoners of war. No attempts to have him convicted or put under trial succeeded.He also studied at the higher war college in Moscow, continuing a brilliant career in the Yugoslavian army, where he reached the rank of Colonel General.Among his many honours, he was also proclaimed Hero of the Yugoslavian People on July 23rd, 1952. He passed away on May 23rd, 1980, receiving statehonours. I RR!

Breast Badge, 32 mm, in GOLD, original suspensionring and triangular ribbon.The medal was created by Pope Pius IX to reward the 9,000 Frenchtroops under General Oudinot who restored Rome to him. In February 1849, a revolutionary mob led by Garibaldi and Mazzini seized power in Rome and proclaimed a Roman Republic. The Pope slipped out of Rome and called upon Catholic states to intervene. First was France whose ExpeditionaryForce arrived on 20 April 1849 and was promptly hurled back into the sea.The French were surprised by the strength of resistance and besiegedRome throughout June and restored Rome to the Papacy in July. It was not until 1870 that Rome, with the exception of the Vatican City, was incorporated into a newly-united Italy. Extremely rare in gold! I RR!

Barnaart,Mayor of Haarlem in the Netherlands, with the original signature “duc de Cadore”, Jean-Baptiste de Nompère (1756-1834), count of Champagny and count of the Empire (April 24th 1808); minister of the internal affairs (1804-1807); minister of the foreign affairs (1807-1814), Grand Chancellor of the Order of the Reunion and senator; the document is accompanied by two further papers: the first with the dated oath (“Formule de Serment”), the second, with particular, bureaucratic instructionsto the knights.A beautiful piece, definitely rare in this very fine condition and completeness.This Order was founded in 1811 as a special reward to those, both military or civil, for their signaled merits towards the empire. An approximate number of awards was 1 Grand Master (Napoleon I himself); 61 Grand Crosses, 90 Commanders and 527 Knights. II RR!

An official letter signed by the count de Marienrode for the bestowal of the Knight’s Cross 2nd Class of the Order to Commissaire Général Moisez, dated in Halberstadt, on June 19th 1813. In the letter, it’s also announced the sending of the insignia, by order of the King.An interesting document, related to a very rare order of Napoleon’s era. Extremely fine condition.Note : The award to Moisez is also reported in the « Moniteur Westphalien » n. 170 of June 21st, 1813. II RR!

(Honorary Axe for Boarding the Enemy) Superb replacement model, 104x61 mm, cast in Silver and engraved by hand "Le 1er Consul/au Cen Philippe Ferey/Matelot Timonier/Combat du 27 THer an 9/DEVt Boulogne" and subsequently gilt. The recipient was a navy quartermaster (matelot timonier) on the gunship Etna and received this award on 11 Brumaire of year X for having distinguished himself in the combat of Boulogne fl eet on 27 Thermidor year IX. It is during that naval battle that he had his right hand blown away by a cannonball. Extremely rare published reward! Provenance collection "General Stiot". I- RR!
