Admiral Crabbe An important Visitors’ Book with 845 signatures (Oct 1935 to Dec 1940), most of which have been identified, include witnesses to the Nanking massacre, a fine collection of Royal Navy captains at the start of WW2, and John Alexander Fraser and Major Lanceray Newnham, who were tortured and executed by the Japanese, and posthumously award the George Cross. The model in silver appears to be in Mint condition and sits on a card platform which contains an opened 'Secret Instructions' packet which contains instructions, badge, number plate decals and spare figure. The bubble is clear and sealed on pictorial back. The rear of the pack has some pen marking. The pack wings / sides have been folded nad as such have some minor creasing. The pack base has some slight folds - overall the box is Excellent condition. An outstanding example of this desirable diecast in the rarer box!

dating: 1877 provenance: Spain, Straight, single-edged blade (93 cm of length), folding, engraved with a long band on the right side, decorated with rinceaux, with remains of red enamel; the same decorative band on the left side, surmounted by the remains of a long inscription in italics, only partially readable, still readable the date '1877'. Wooden grip, completely covered with brass foil, engraved with geometrical motifs, with three segments on both facets, with rows of circular holes that show the remains of red enamels. Back with iron band for the two thirds of the length. Rare in this dimensions. length open 191 cm.
dating: 1875-1890 provenance: France, Two-stage, octagonal, rifled, 450 gauge barrel, marked 'Acier Fondu', with serial number '145xx', 'UZ' mark, fore-sight; ribbed, six-shot cylinder, frame with rare opening lever, loading gate and extractor. Micro-checkered, wooden grip scales. Suspension ring. Still working. length 28.5 cm.
dating: circa 1800 provenance: France, Smooth-bore, blued, three-stage, 14.5 mm. cal. barrels; octagonal breech decorated with bass-relieved leaf patterns and marked 'GAUVAIN PERE & FILS INV. & FEC. ARQUEBUSIERS A QANGRES AN 1800', the following part has sixteen faces, the last one is round with a ring at the nozzle (the first part, the rib and the nozzle ring are gold plated); the barrels' lower part is marked 'E. DURAND' and 'TONDU'; the barrels' base contains two pans with respective batteries and rotary safety lock; enclosed hammer lock sculpted with dragons and smooth lock plates with bass-relieved engraving remains on the tangs, on the left side is an opening for the oil with a cover; large engraved and gilded tang; checkered wooden stock decorated with faceted iron nails and smooth silver nails at the grip, sculpted in the shape of a dragon's head in the lower part; the grips are decorated with four high-relieved dragons at the borders and with gilded silver works, several engraved silver inlays picturing hunters, deer, hare, wild boar and silver garlands; iron mounts with floral-patterned chisels, sliding trigger guard, one trigger, underneath the barrels is a wooden pommel on a sliding band to release the second shot; iron-tipped wooden ramrod with iron cartridge extractor. Interesting double-barrelled flintlock gun of remarkable elegance and with a rare shooting system. On page 424 of the I volume of 'Der neue Stockel' is the famous gunsmith Alfred Gauvain, first artisan to be honored with a gold medal in 1849. He also sells one of his guns, displayed at a 1855 international exhibition, to the Russian Czar. Alfred Gauvain was probably a descendant or even the son of the Gauvain who manufactured this extraordinary gun. length 123 cm.
dating: about 1870 provenance: Belgium, Round, smooth, twisted 18 mm cal. barrels, with rib and foresight; engraved tang; back spring lock finely engraved with grotesque animals and floral motifs in bas-relief on a dark background, hammers and receiver decorated en suite. Under the barrels, an opening lever to slid the barrels forward, signed underneath 'BASTIN FRERES' and with serial number '7xx'. Wooden butt with iron mounts decorated en suite. Interesting and rare system. length 110 cm.
dating: circa 1870 - 1880 provenance: Liege, Octagonal, grooved, 11.4 mm cal. barrel with white metal sights, marked 'C.F.G.' and numbered on the right side; smooth, burnished, six-shot cylinder marked with Liège bench test; frame with trigger guard that also works as an operating lever to slide the barrel forward and activate the extractor. Under crown 'V' marks. Mechanics working in single and double action. Smooth, wooden grips, pommel with strap ring. On the back, clutch for butt plate. Rare. length 27.5 cm.
