Totem BR(NE) MARKET WEIGHTON, H/F. Ex NER station between Selby and Driffield, and Beverley and York. Opened in October 1847 with an overall roof, which was removed in 1947 and replaced with steel awnings. It closed in November 1965, and the station buildings were demolished in 1979. A lovely totem having excellent appearance. The normal, half flanged rust along the edges having been expertly repaired. A rare totem indeed.
South Yorkshire Joint Lines Committee brass Thunderer Guards Whistle complete with Chain. Manufacturers name on lip `Henry Riley, Constitutional Hill, Birmingham`. One side clearly stamped `S.Y.J.L.C and the other side stamped `14`. With only 3 stations on the line and closing to passengers in 1929 this must be an incredibly rare whistle.
Wrexham Mold & Connahs Quay Railway pattern Trackside Gradient Arm (36" x 10") and a ¾ Mile Marker, oval 6¾ x 12¼". Both in chunky and quite heavy C/I. The gradient shown is 1 in 300 and 1 in 127. Both ex trackside condition, black lettering and border on white. Rare indeed, especially the gradient arm.

BR(S) enamel Doorplate STATION MASTER, F/F, dark green, 18" x 6" The style of letters is very early Southern Region and is the same as the earlier SR lettering and maybe even a transitional piece as the back has the suppliers name Mead & Mclean enamelled into it. Excellent condition with a couple of small well executed repairs to the bottom corners. An extremely rare doorplate.

GWR 12 inch Mahogany cased fusee clock, with chisel base to the bottom of the drop. A significant Great Western clock with chain driven fusee and a nice Ogee surround to the dial. The movement of typical London style has many John Walker characteristics which point to this clock being supplied by this maker between 1853-1871. Subsequently, Kays took over the supply of clocks to the GWR. The clock is in unrestored original condition with a cast brass bezel, Ivorine numberplate GWR 651 and the same number chalked onto the back box. The movement is stamped 7185 as are the bezel hinge and pendulum. A rare clock and the best of this type we have ever seen.

Carriage Print 30"x10", THE CINQUE PORT OF HASTINGS SUSSEX from an original water colour by Jack Merriott RI from the Southern Region `A` series issued in 1952. This rare, unframed print is in mint condition and is considered to be the most difficult to obtain from the Cinque set. Note the other 4 in the set are available elsewhere within this auction.
A very rare set of 5 Wade Dwarves from the 1938 Snow White and the Seven Dwarves series, all finished in colours with the collectable cellulose paint finish known as `Scintillate`, some damage to Sneeze and a little paint flaking to Sleepy. The remaining figures in very good condition with the paint colours remaining bright throughout. All with printed marks and painted titles to base.

A rare Japanese Haniwa terracotta Figure of a Warrior, Kotun period, circa 5th century A.D., the striking pale pinkish brown pottery figure with round broad brimmed hat, resting a later copper base Provenance: The property of a lady. Purchased from Bluett & Sons, 48 Davies Street on the 27th May 1969 for £895 and sold with the original invoice together with an earlier certificate from the Okura Art Museum Tokyo dated February 28th 1969. Haniwa `clay ring` take their name from the unglazed clay cylinders placed on the large tomb mounds of the Japanese elite which were first recorded in the fourth century. The tubular bases were sunk into the ground for stability. In the suceeding centuries, potters of the cylinders expanded into sculptures of humans, animals and household objects. For a similar figure from Kameyama Moka city, Tochigi prefecture, see Miki tumio, ed., Haniwa, Nihon no., bijusta (Arts of Japan) 19 (Tokyo: Shibundo., 1967) no. 61." View on auctionatrium.com
A rare archaic bronze Ding and cover, Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220AD) of flattened globular shape with three slightly cabriole feet and L shaped handles, the rim bearing an old incised inscription; the domed cover also with an old incised inscription and with three looped hooks. Good patina with some malachite encrustation. Provenance: From a private European collection, purchased E. Pranger, Amsterdam, 25 May 1996" 17 cm high, 22cm diameter Essentially good condition with typical encrustation. * Hawker VC, DSO (Lanoe George, 1890-1916). A signed copy of No. 24 Squadron R.F.C. Operation Orders for July 20th 1916, typed in the field, July 1916, pilots’ names listed on left against morning and afternoon patrols in blue ink (by Hawker?), identifying names as self, Knight, Sibley, Wilson, and Wood, signed in pencil by Hawker as Commander lower right, a few minor spots and creases, one page, folio. Hawker from Longparish in Hampshire, was to become the first pilot to earn a VC for aerial combat. He was killed in a dogfight with the Red Baron on 23rd November 1916 and his autograph is thus very rare. (1)
