In the autumn of 1759 Benjamin Franklin visited Sheffield, where he bought a set of three plated saucepans. In a letter to his wife Deborah in Philadelphia he wrote "I send you two saucepans, plated inside with silver instead of tinning. I bought them at Sheffield because I thought they would please you; ... I got three, but keep the smallest here to make my Watergruel, and send you the largest and middlemost." ++In well preserved original condition and interesting

George Gordon Fraser (British, 1859-1895) Picnic at Glendalough, County Wicklow, Ireland signed lower left "G Gordon Fraser" watercolour 38 x 55cm (15 x 21in) George Gordon Fraser sadly died young, at the age of 35, having fallen through the ice whilst skating on the River Ouse. He was buried with his father in a secluded spot in the graveyard of St. James’s Church, Hemingford Grey, Huntingdon. The present work is a rare watercolour from Fraser's period in Ireland. Joe died in 1952 and Esther Clark (Esther Weeks after she married) took over as head decorator. By repute this pig was given as a retirement gift to the foreman of Bovey Tracey in 1955
