Lot 92

A rare sick barometer by Davis of Derby. Engraved Davis Optician Derby. Contained in a mahogany case untouched belonged to the ex-works manager of Davis Derby Mr John Henry Walters. The barometer is believed to have been a proto type or one used by the instrument maker in the factory. Nice original condition.

A rare Tri-ang Minic Ships Commando Ship, HMS Albion (M754). Based on the HMS Albion model (M753), this version was produced in a limited run of 1000 for the crew of that aircraft carrier. With the correct base, (casting without the reference number) and paper decal deck. In the correct box with minor/some pen marks/wear to ends, otherwise a crisp example. The ship is GC-VGC, paintwork is excellent, however please note that the glue has dried out and gone brittle on the deck decal making it cleanly come loose and the helicopters are missing. £200-300

LOT OF THE DAY 5000+ Football Autographs 1957 - 1962: Incredible collection obtained mainly at Crewe station in the late 50s and early 60s. Collected in books for example Charles Buchans Topical Times Book Of Football Champions and a few scrapbooks. The majority though are signed on loose pictures cut out from various magazine and book publications. Wide variety of clubs in various sizes including part and fully signed team groups. Undedicated autographs are genuine and clear always using biro. We lost count at 5000 signatures and along the way spotted autographs of Duncan Edwards Bobby Moore Matt Busby John White Brian Clough Bill Nicholson etc. Viewing is essential to understand the full potential of this rare collection. Although this would suit a collector it would no doubt have a very high retail value far exceeding our estimates.

Original vintage travel poster Netherlands - England Day and Night shift Via Hoek van Holland - Harwich Nederland - Engeland. Rare large size format. Hoek van Holland Haven station was the starting point of many international boat trains. For British travelers, arriving by ferry from Harwich, 'the Hook' was the gateway of the continent. From there they took the train to Berlin or the luxurious Rheingold to Switzerland. After World War II the number of international services reached a peak with trains such as the Holland-Scandinavia Express and even the Orient Express. Enthalten sind Portraits verschiedener Generale, wie Laudohn, v. Daun, v. Zieten, v. Seydlitz, v. Schwerin. Der Text ist nur teilweise erhalten, die Seiten 289 bis 375 sind wohl vorhanden. Es schließen sich verschiedene Kupferstichszenen an, wie die Sächsische Armee ergibt sich im Lager bei Pirna 1756, Schwerins Heldentod 1757, Flucht bei Rosbach 1757, der König besucht in Leipzig den verwundeten General Cüstine, die Russen brandschatzen in Berlin 1760 und Weitere. Zuletzt koloriertes Kupfer: ein Kosak, ein preußischer schwarzer Husar oder so genannter Totenkopf, ein Bergschotte, ein Croat. Kupfer wohl nach Chodowieki. The text is only partially preserved, pages 289 to 375 are probably there. Various copper engraving scenes follow, such as the Saxon army surrendering in the camp near Pirna in 1756, Schwerin's heroic death in 1757, escape near Rosbach in 1757, the king visiting the wounded General Cüstine in Leipzig, the Russians pillaging Berlin in 1760 and others. Finally colored copper: a Cossack, a Prussian black hussar or so-called skull, a mountain Scot, a Croat. Copper probably after Chodowieki. Single sheets and unbound, cover and spine preserved, badly damaged, signs of age and usage.
