Motor Car. Sold on the instructions of executors. 1968 Triumph TR5, Conifer Green, chassis No CP.1789, one of 1161 for the home market, with several factory options, including wire wheels and soft and surrey tops, a number of original parts (retained when replaced) and spares, spare parts catalogue and other period literature, Document V5C and SORN The sale of this classic 60's sports car affords a rare opportunity to acquire a sound and relatively unmolested example for recommissioning. The late owner, Mr S A Johnson, Papplewick, Nottingham, acquired the vehicle in November 1977 and in a letter to the DVLA in 2005 (copy available) he stated "Since my first[sic] ownership of the vehicle it has never been used or parked on a public road, it has always been garaged at one address or the other... as an indication of the use / activity of the vehicle in question since first purchased by myself the vehicle has covered 77 miles in 27 years and 9 months of ownership... The majority of these few miles were incurred on tow under trade plate cover to the coach builders who restored some body work around 1979/80 in Bulwell Nottingham" Mellors & Kirk acknowledges the assistance of David Groom in connection with this lot.

The Chinese teapot and cover similar, with a replacement metal handle. The teabowl with a crossed swords and S. mark has a series of firing and hairline cracks to rim. The Chinese small side plate with a version of the Royal Lily pattern with minute chipping to rim. The remaining Royal Lily plates and saucer dishes are ok other than some minor wear. Worcester/Provenance: the actress Doris Keane, thence from the Henry Sandon Study Collection CONDITION REPORT: One white biscuit porcelain poodle with restored tail, cracked and restuck through all four legs, the poodle with the putto on its back, putto partly lacking reins, the other poodle (with incised mark) is lacking tail, slight chipping to tasselled corners, minor staining to mane.

A rare Minton figure and other Staffordshire figures, comprising a Minton figure of a shepherd boy holding a jug, circa 1835, 13.5cm, (unmarked but model no. 68), a Staffordshire figure of John Liston as Moll Flaggon, 16.5cm, two other Staffordshire figures and three Staffordshire models of poodles (7)/Provenance: from the Henry Sandon Study Collection CONDITION REPORT: Minton figure of boy- with some slight wear to gilding and enamels, minor chipping to flowers at base, overall in good order. Staffordshire couple with an umbrella, with some restoration to umbrella, the smallest poodle is misfired and very sanded, another poodle on a yellow cushion with hairline crack across cushion, hairline cracks across back and to one rear ankle, the poodle on the green cushion cracked across cushion and restuck, lacking tail and with chipping to edge of base, corners and tip of nose.

A Nantgarw 'Mackintosh Service' dish painted with a golden pheasant, 30cm, a Nantgarw plate of Duke of Cambridge pattern, 23cm, impressed NANT-GARW CW, a selection of kiln wasters from the Nantgarw site, a pair of Rockingham botanical plates, purple Griffin marks, a Coalport inkstand with separate wells and a taperstick and a Coalport vase in Welsh style with the rare Ampersand mark, 12cm high/Provenance: from the Henry Sandon Study Collection CONDITION REPORT: The Mackintosh service dish - cracked across with old riveted repairs issuing further shorter hairline cracks, also cracked and riveted to one lobe at rim, some wear to gilding. A Nantgarw plate with green ground cracked into four pieces and poorly restuck, small old losses and areas of repainting. Both Rockingham plates with some pale discolouration to the glaze, one with a short hairline crack to rim, wear and rubbing to gilding and enamels. The Coalport taper stick with slight chipping to the upper rim, one inkpot with chipping to flange, the stand with polished chipping to one scroll handle, some wear to gilding and enamels.

Three rare novelty teapots, comprising a Foley Intarsio Ware teapot and cover, circa 1910, in the shape of Lord Salisbury, the politician in a green suit, 11cm high, a Minton teapot in the form of a Japanese actor holding an oversized mask, enamelled decoration, 14cm, unmarked, and a Doulton 'Self Pouring teapot' with printed decoration, 19.5cm/Provenance: from the Henry Sandon Study Collection CONDITION REPORT: The Minton Japanese actor teapot and cover - chipped to underside edge of face and with associated hairline crack, with a further crack to rim. Overpainted chip to top knot. Hairline crack to rim of teapot, flaking and retouching to the black enamel on handle and spout. The Foley teapot with two hairline cracks to rim, chip to rim of cover. The teapot with some staining and glaze crazing to the upper rim and neck, the knop is sitting at an angle and has probably had some damage.

Lot 125

A rare Royal Service plate from the 'Queen's Golden Jubilee Service', 2002, presented to Queen Elizabeth II by the British Ceramic Confederation and the people of Stoke-on-Trent, the leaf-shape plate with gold emblems and turquoise rim, 24.5cm, special mark in gold/Note: Royal Doulton, Wedgwood, Royal Crown Derby and Johnson Matthey all contributed to this unique 93-piece royal dessert service. This specimen plate was purchased by Henry Sandon at a charity auction held by the British Ceramic Confederation in 2002/Provenance: from the Henry Sandon Study Collection CONDITION REPORT: In good order overall.

Three pieces of early Meissen, all circa 1735-40, comprising a pounce pot in the shape of a barrel, painted in blue with the 'Onion' pattern, 8.5cm, a cream jug, painted with the 'Tischchenmuster' pattern in bright colours, 8.4cm, and a rare vase of beaker shape, painted in underglaze blue, red enamel and gold with an all over leaf scroll and flowerhead pattern, 12.2cm, all with crossed swords marks/Provenance: from the Henry Sandon Study Collection CONDITION REPORT: Meissen barrel shaped pounce pot cracked and restuck to handle, very minor footrim chipping. The milk jug is lacking a cover, otherwise ok. The cylindrical vase is reduced at the neck and with a 1cm wide footrim chip, hairline crack to upper rim.

Minute glaze fault to gilt rim, very minor scratching to enamels at the well.

A very rare pair of Royal Worcester models by Doris Lindner, (1896-1979), of a blue tit and a chaffinch perched on stumps on oval bases, 10.3cm high, factory marks in puce dated 1941/Note: From the estate of the modeller, these Wartime prototypes never went into full production/Provenance: from the Henry Sandon Study Collection CONDITION REPORT: The chaffinch broken and restuck in two places across one branch across its left foot. The blue tit lacking one leaf and further associated chipping to another leaf, some very minor wear throughout.

Two rare Royal Worcester models, comprising an 'Art Deco' model of Barbara, the Polar Bear, modelled by Ethelwyn Baker, 16cm, dated 1931, and a figure of Amanda modelled by Neal French (born 1933) and made in 1957, painted by the modeller himself as an unmarked prototype, 17cm and a figure of Worcester cricketers by Neal French as a freelance modeller, 32cm (3)/Provenance: from the Henry Sandon Study Collection CONDITION REPORT: The polar bear with a flat chip to the front of base 1.3cm high, with a network of deep cracks around the base, mid-body, neck and reverse of body (the cracks across the neck and to reverse are deep and require restoration), some crazing to glaze. The model of cricketers with some glaze crazing overall. Minor wear throughout but otherwise ok.

A Royal Worcester reticulated cabinet cup and a miniature Spaniel, the cup by Samuel Ranford (1839-?), pierced in the manner of George Owen, jewelled and gilded with a flying crane, puce factory mark and gilder's mark SR, the rare model of a King Charles Spaniel on a 'shot silk' cushion, in natural colours, date code for 1907 (2)/Provenance: from the Henry Sandon Study Collection CONDITION REPORT: Reticulated cup in good order. The model of a spaniel, with a small chip to the edge of cushion, the tassels with some rubbing to gilding, otherwise ok.

Lithograph not removed from frame for condition report. Indications of printed type below the image. Several small marks but generally in good condition.

George Berkeley, d.1746 to Lady Elizabeth Germain, d.1769 by family descent to Col Sir Joseph Weld, Lulworth, Dorset, d.1992 by family descent to the present owner.Illustrated in Clayton, M., The Collectors Dictionary of the Silver and Gold of Great Britain and North America, Woodbridge, 1971, p. 34, fig. 33b.A similar George II silver-gilt canopy coronation bell with a later baluster handle sold at Christie's in their sale 20th November 2009, lot 40, Property From The Collection of HRH The Prince George, Duke of Kent, KG, KT, and HRH Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent CI, GCVO and Their Families.A small group of coronation bells survive today, of which the earliest example is thought to have been used at the coronation of King Charles II in 1660. Two coronation bells were bequeathed to the nation by the Countess of Waldegrave. The first is by Francis Garthorne, the maker of the present bell, and is hallmarked for 1714/15. However, it is engraved 'George 2nd 1727'. It has been suggested that it was first used at the coronation of King George I in 1714 and re-used at the coronation of his son in 1727.At the coronation of King George II, held on the 11th October 1727, the Canopy of State was carried by the members of parliament of the Cinque Ports. In his position as M.P. for Dover, the Hon. George Berkeley was appointed as a canopy bearer. This right was established during the reign of King Edward I as cited by Mantel, T., in Coronation Ceremonies and Customs, relative to the Barons of the Cinque Ports as Supports of the Canopy, Dover, 1820.
