An Arts and Crafts stained ash Dressing Chest made by Shapland & Petter of Barnstaple, with swing mirror supported on back with tapered columns with flared terminals, pierced motifs to sides, drawers and mirror having stylised inlay of flowers and leaves, the central drawer with stamped lock and registration mark to the back, also having a rare metal Raleigh label 'Rd 241158' with the same number as the one found in the Daryl Bennett Shapland and Petter book page 115 7.1, both Shapland & Petter and Heals produced a range of green stained antique furniture, some of which was retailed by Liberty, Dressing Chest: W 106.5 cm x H 164.5 cm x D 51 cm. Provenance: property of a West Country Collector. After buying an Arts & Crafts house, the vendors researched and sought-out beautiful, often unique, Arts & Crafts pieces to furnish their home.
A rare early 19th century Napoleonic French prisoner of war Spinning Jenny in Bottle, the carved and painted wood figure and assistant by a large yarn winder, in clear glass bottle, 15cm high. Provenance: The Eyres Collection of French Napoleonic Prisoner-of-War Works of Art and Antique Weapons, assembled over many years by a Devon collector. Sold on the instructions of the Executor.
