Ebony (?) hilt set with gilt, crowned red enamel St. Anne emblem, gilt end-piece with crowned "A III" monogram and swivel pommel; gilt front end and crossguard engraved "?A XPA?POCT?" (for Bravery). E & F Hörster Solingen blade. Blackened bone or ebony scabbard. Gilt end-piece with floral ornament and two gilt loop bands, the top with fouled anchor. Rare. Normal wear, minor scuff on scabbard. Well-preserved.

In this cataloger's opinion overly optimistically graded by PCGS as AU 50. Some obverse hairlines. In our opinion this example grades Very Fine/Extremely Fine.
