Cracked in centre, some weakness in margins, otherwise very fine, extremely rare and unrecorded. The date of this coin would appear to be impossible, as it predates the Seljuq conquest of Rayy by at least four years, but both the mintname and date are clear. It also predates the accepted start of Tughril Beg’s reign (429h); the earliest known date for his coinage is 432h. One possibility is that it was struck later using an old obverse die; however, Miles does not record any coins of Rayy with this date..
