Rare James Tennant mahogany cabinet of minerals, rocks and fossils, trade label applied to the interior of the door printed "Arranged and Sold by J. Tennant, Mineralogist By Appointment to Her Majesty, 149 Strand London", the case with hinged door opening to twelve drawers, the numbered specimens going up to 402, H53cm W37cm D 28cm, with the manuscript Catalogue by James Tennant December 1853The Mineral shop at 149 Strand opened in 1804 by John Mawes until he died in 1829 after which it was taken over by his wife Sarah, she was then bought out by her apprentice, James Tennant who then ran the shop until his death in 1881. James Tennant was elected a fellow of the Geological Society in 1838 and was appointed to lecture in mineralogy on the recommendation of Michael Faraday. In 1840 he became mineralogist by appointment to Her Majesty Queen Victoria, and supervised the cutting of the Koh-i-Noor diamond for the crown jewels.

A 1936 Berlin Olympics Football automata wall clock, a/f.Lot description comes from information found on the interweb, apparently a very rare clock. Case in need of restoration, see photos.Spring ok, comes with a pendulum and a key, clock works at the moment but will need lubricating, when pendulum ticks the goalkeeper moves side to side as does the ball and left players leg also moves. The first atlas in Hewbrew, including maps showing the Jewish population in each country of the Diaspora and historic maps. "This atlas was designed mainly for the use of students at Hebrew schools. However, we believed that in this state of lack of useful Hebrew books, we cannot draw the line and limit ourselves only to the subjects that are necessary to students, since it is our duty to slightly extend the limits so that the book will be able to satisfy, to some extent, the needs of any person who seeks knowledge of 'Hebrew Geography'" - Introduction.

NO RESERVE Kane (Elisha Kent) The U.S. Grinnell Expedition in Search of Sir John Franklin, first edition, 3 maps and charts (one folding), 12 plates, wood-engraved illustrations, tissue guards (some browned), lacking frontispiece, some scattered foxing, later half calf, 8vo, New York, 1853.⁂ The rare true first edition, copies having been denuded by a warehouse fire on 12th December, 1853. 'Among the many new books which were consumed is Dr. Kane's History of his Artic Explorations, a large octavo, profusely illustrated with engravings, which had been ready for some days, but was kept back until supply could be secured.' (The New York Times). A richly illustrated account by the senior medical officer of the first Grinnell Arctic Expedition (1850-51). It describes icebergs, narwhals, bears, birds, meteors, inuit kayaking techniques and the discovery of Franklin's first winter camp.

A Catalogue of the Magnificent, Rare, and Valuable Library (of 20,000 Volumes)..., [including] The Unique and Splendid Effects of Fonthill Abbey [&] The Pictures and Miniatures at Fonthill Abbey, engraved frontispiece, detached along with front free endpaper, contemporary ink ownership inscription to head of title, pp.3-5 with ink underlining and one buyer's name in manuscript, pp.6-7 with areas of abrasion affecting text, some foxing, original half morocco, upper cover with printed paper label, rubbed and soiled, lacking backstrip, covers detached, [Lugt 10510 & 10519], Phillips, 1823; with a sale catalogue for the Landsdowne collection of ancient marbles, 8vo (2)⁂ One of the most famous sales of the nineteenth century, necessitated by Beckford's diminished financial resources. The sale catalogue comprises the entire contents of Fonthill, offered at auction over thirty-seven days from 23rd September to 29th October, encompassing the library, furniture, pictures and prints. The catalogue is bound in chronological order according to the day's sale rather than the subject matter.

Record of the Expedition to Abyssinia compiled by Order of the Secretary of State for War, 3 vol., including Portfolio, first edition, 32 lithographs, plans and maps, 1 folding table, 5 folding maps housed in portfolio as issued, one or two chips to folds, 'HMSO' presentation labels tipped-in, faint abrasion marks to front pastedowns where labels removed, scattered faint spotting, original cloth, ex-Westminster Public Libraries with faint blind-stamp to upper covers, rubbed and worn, lacking part of backstrips but holding firm, portfolio lacking one edge and cracked on others, [Shapero, Africana 183], 4to, 1870.⁂ The portfolio accompanying this copy contains all 5 maps called for. It is rare to find this with all 5 maps, the copy Shapero reference only contains 3.

Ngugi (James) Weep Not, Child, first edition, biro jotting to 'Part 1' page, original boards, dust-jacket, light chipping to corners and spine ends, extremities with neat and expert restorations and repairs along joints and edges, 1964.⁂ This is the first novel by James Ngugi (now Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o), and was the first English language novel to be published by an East African. Thiong'o's works deal with the relationship between Africans and white settlers in colonial Kenya, and are heavily critical of colonial rule. Rare in commerce.

Anti-Catholicism.- A Second letter from a person of quality to his friend, about abhorrers and addressors, &c., single sheet, printed on both sides, double column, some mostly marginal spotting, lightly stained and browned, [Wing S2283], 302 x 196mm., John Frith, 1682.⁂ Rare at auction. 'Abhorrers' was the name given in 1679 to those persons who expressed their disgust for signatories to a petition urging King Charles II of England to assemble Parliament, which he had disolved in order to prevent the Exclusion Bill passing into law. The Exclusion Crisis ran from 1679 until 1681, during which time three Exclusion Bills sought to block the King's brother and heir presumptive, James, Duke of York, from the thrones of England, Scotland and Ireland because they were Roman Catholics.

Parodies of classical verse.- Estienne (Henri, compiler) Parodiae morales, first edition, collation: *8 a-i8 k4 A-M8 (complete with all blanks), printed in Latin and Greek, some foxing, 19th century red morocco, gilt, g.e., small scratch to lower cover, upper joint starting to crack, 8vo (161 x 99mm.), Geneva, Henri Estienne, 1575.⁂ Attractive copy of "Estienne's rare collection of Greek and Latin parodies of quotable verses from classical poets, composed (he tells us) in order to fight boredom while traveling on horseback" (Schreiber). The rectos of all leaves in the first section are left blank for readers to fill with their own parodies. The first of these blank rectos has been partially utilised by an 18th century hand.Literature: Renouard 142.6; Schreiber 194; Adams S1784.

Agricultural working conditions.- [Cliquot de Blervache (Simon)] Mémoire sur les moyens d'améliorer en France la condition des laboureurs, des journaliers, des hommes de peine vivans dans les campagnes, & celle de leurs femmes & de leurs enfans, first edition, woodcut ornament to title, woodcut head-pieces and initials, 2 privilege ff. at end, some mostly marginal water-staining, particularly at ends, some spotting or light staining, lightly browned (a few ff. slightly more so), modern half calf over older mottled boards, spine richly gilt and with red leather label (this with 1 letter missing and creased), [Einaudi 1136; INED 1138 (Chambéry edition), a solid copy, 8vo, Paris, chez Delalain l'aîné, 1789.⁂ Rare. An analysis of the poor state of agriculture in France, and the miserable conditions of the workers and their wives and children. It describes the huge inequalities in wealth resulting from the privileges granted to the nobility and the clergy, and puts forward proposals to address this, including fairer taxes.

Grey over maroon paintwork generally presents quite well  . Off side front wing has some bubbling to the rear edge . Off side front door has some bubbling and a crack where some filler is moving  . Off side rear door has rust around bottom of the rear edge  . Off side rear wheel arch has some visible corrosion as does the near side rear wheel arch . Near side rear door has some rust visible along the bottom edge . Near side front wing has some bubbling  . Chrome work has some surface rust  Inside . Original grey leather seats look in good order but would benefit from some treatment . Red carpets are OK but have faded . Door cards are in good condition as is the headlining  . Radiomobile push button radio Mechanicals  . Starts well with the help of a jump pack, so will need a new battery . The automatic gearbox selects drive and reverse . Unfortunately the brakes do not work, so we haven't driven the car very far History  . Other than a V5C we have no other history with the car Our Opinion  A charming Wolseley that has potential to be a nice entry level classic.

Supplied with 2 sets of keys Outside  The Chilli pepper red paintwork presents very well. There are a few small stone chips to the bonnet and a small chip to the near side front wing approximately 5mm in diameter. The spoilers and other parts of the body are in excellent order. The nearly new Rainsport tyres sit on immaculate 18 inch Rays forged alloys. Inside  The charcoal leather seats show virtually no wear at all. The door cards, dashboard, headlining and carpets are all in similar condition and there are 350Z over mats fitted. Overall a lovely place to sit. There is a face off Sony audio system fitted. Mechanicals The engine fires instantly and emits a superb note through the stainless steel exhaust system. On the road the 350Z performs very well indeed with oodles of power and torque. The brakes, steering and suspension are all as they should be and the gearbox is slick and smooth. History  There is a full book pack with 350Z wallet and sales brochure. A selection of invoices during the current ownership since 2015 for sundry items and MOT certificates dating back until 2013 Our opinion  These cars were rare when they were new and and uncommon site on the roads then and even more so now, especially in this condition. This is one of those cars that in a few years time we will be saying why did I not buy one when they were at that price.

1950 Chrysler Newport Town and Country 5300cc 2 door Coupe No Reserve  Registration:  LXS 766 Chassis: 7411821 Odometer: 43000 Transmission: Semi Auto  MOT: Exempt  • Powered by a straight eight 5100cc engine with a 3 speed semi-automatic gearbox • Offered for sale in outstanding condition inside, outside and mechanically  • Said to be one of only 698 produced and one of only 2 in the UK . Magazine featured previously and will be featured in a future issue of Classic and Sports Car Outside  Finished in striking black paint which compliments the chrome and woodwork perfectly. The paintwork is finished to the highest standard though there are a few chips on the edge of the driver’s door and a tiny scratch on the upper of the rear side quarter panel. The chrome is of a very high quality and we are unable to find fault anywhere on the car. The woodwork is very good in most areas with the exception of a crack on the off side rear quarter and some blemishes on the near side. Fitted with the correct and matching BF Goodrich 6.20 x 15 tyres all round which show excellent tread depth. Inside The cloth and leather interior is in very good order all round apart from some delamination on the drivers seat where the leather meets the cloth and a small area under the seat cover on the offside rear seat. The rear panel on the offside has a very small area of damage which is barely visible.  The carpets and door cards and in excellent order as are the interior fittings and the chrome work. All instrumentation is present and the gauges appear to be fully operational and showing readings when the car is running. Mechanicals The Chrysler was driven to our premises and no faults were noted apart from the intermittent operation of the windscreen wipers.  The under bonnet presents beautifully and the engine runs like a Swiss watch with a delightful burble from the exhaust. The brakes are effective and the gearbox changes without issue. Our Opinion Quite possibly the only chance you currently have to acquire one of these stunning cars. It is rare that we handle a car that unanimously gains approval from everyone who looks at it. This car is a testament to the style and design from the 1940s & 50s flamboyant America. These are a fraction of the price of a similar English or European counterparts and you can be sure that you will not be parked next to another one at any show or event.

Mechanicals  The engine starts instantly and quickly settles down. On the road, the Porsche is a delight to drive and must be very close to how it drove when new. The brakes, steering and gearbox all perform as they should. History  The Boxster comes complete with a full book pack and wallet which shows it was supplied by Rivervale Porsche in Brighton to Mr Rod Taylor. There are MOT certificates dating back to 2008 and service invoices dating back to 2008. The service book shows that it has been serviced every year, the last being in March 2022. It was main dealer serviced until 20111 then Charles Ivey Porsche specialist until 2020 by Porsche Wilmslow in July then specialist, Addison Autotech in Southport in March 2022 with a supporting invoice for £3523. Our opinion  These cars represent tremendous value for money and are very durable, useable and great fun to own and drive. This car is really quite exceptional in all areas and is the product of a proper maintenance schedule by people who know how to look after them. This Porsche ticks all the right boxes with low mileage, great colour, excellent service history,  great condition and offers extremely good value for money , on the button and ready to go

A rare pair of Sonab V-1 speakers. Introduced in the late sixties, the omnidirectional Sonab V-1 was the first cube-shaped Carlson speaker. This particular pair is in a rosewood finish and can either be used floor standing against the wall or hanging upside down from the ceiling. 30cm x 30cm x 30cm.The speaker cones look to be in good condition, but they do need a good clean. Sadly we are unable to test the speakers fully due to a lack of speaker cables.
