Ca.1200 AD. Rare Medieval (Norman) iron Sword with Warrior's running down the blade " ingelrii" ; Pattern welded from intertwined steel and iron rods, double-edged blade with broad, central fuller, tapered. Edges are still sharp. Guard: Rectangular shaped.Grip: Simple iron tapered. Pommel: Semicircular shape. The Ingelrii group consists of about 20 known[1] medieval swords from the 10th to 12th century with a damascening blade inscription INGELRII, appearing with several slight spelling variations such as INGELRD and INGELRILT. It is comparable to the older, much better documented Ulfberht group (9th to 11th century, about 170 known examples). By 1951, Ewart Oakeshott had originally identified thirteen such swords of this inscription, and had suggested that another, at Wisbech Museum, found in the river bed of the Old Nene in 1895, is also an Ingelrii; supported by Davidson as a possible fourteenth. Other variations of the inscription have also been found: INGRLRIIMEFECIT on a sword found by Sigridsholm,Sweden, and INGELRIH FECIT on a sword found in Flemma, Norway.[2]Amazing condition; on custom stand ; 950mm (37.40in); 1345 gr; Provenance: Property of a central London Ancient Art Gallery; previously obtained from a British private collection formed in the 1980s. Ca. 1055 A.D. Extremely rare bronze Medieval oil lamp with 2 spouts , elaborately hand carved and with silver inlay, exquisite example. This feline is highly stylized, with hooves rather than paws and geometric motifs incised into its back. The proportions are purposefully manipulated, particularly the ratio between the head and the body. The neck is pierced and the facial features are deliberately simplified, with a prominent nose and whiskers. The neck itself is hinged so that the oil can be poured into the hollow body. Most metal oil lamps from this period have just one or two spouts, so the inclusion of four, which project from the front of the feline’s body, is highly unusual. This is an extremely delicate and superbly crafted example of Islamic metalwork.L:280mm/H:200mm (11.02in, 7.87in) ; 2050gr; Provenance: Private Kent collection, formed in the 1980s on the UK art market, All Items sold by Pax Romana Auctions come with professional Certificate of Authenticity.

Ca.2000 BC. This type of very interesting stone statuette, sometimes referred to as Bactrian princesses or Bactrian goddesses, is a very distinctive and rare object of the prehistoric civilization of Bactria. These seldom exceed 20cm in height and they are composite in nature, with the head (and also often a cap or other headdress) being separate from the body. They are made up with two or more different types of stone; usually green chlorite or steatite for the body, with heads of white limestone and occasionally in green chlorite.Bactra was the Greek name for the area of modern Balkh, in what is now northern Afghanistan and Margiana was the Greek name for the Persian satrapy of Margu, the capital of which was Merv, in today's Turkmenistan. This civilisation was contemporary with the European Bronze Age, and was characterised by monumental architecture, social complexity and extremely distinctive cultural artefacts that vanish from the record a few centuries after they first appear. Trade appears to have been important, as Bactrian artefacts appear all over the Persian Gulf as well as in the Iranian Plateau and the Indus Valley. Pictographs on seals have been argued to indicate an independently-developed writing system.Religion may have been based around deities represented by pieces such as this. However, they are extremely rare.. Their significance is unclear. Fine Condition, intact. Size: 10.5cm x9cm (4.13 x 3.54 in); 700gr; Provenance: Private collection of an Oxford professional, formed in the 1970s-1990s on the UK art market, All Items sold by Pax Romana Auctions come with professional Certificate of Authenticity.
Ca.200 AD Extremely rare Gandhara schist figure of a starving prince Siddharatha . "The young prince Siddharatha left his palace in search of enlightenment and practised for six years such severe austerities and intense mental concentration that his beautiful body withered away to skin and bones. Ultimately he attained enlightenment at the age of thirty five and became known as the Buddha - "The enlightened one". This resolve was illustrated for the first time in Gandhara art. This so called statue of Fasting Siddharatha ranks not only as the finest specimen of Gandhara Art, but also as one of the rarest antiquities of the earliest world."
