Harry Stevens (1919-2008)gouache on paper,Mountain landscape with sunflowers,signed and dated '48,9.5 x 13.5in.Stevens was a self-taught artist who ultimately achieved great success as a designer of posters during the 1960s and 1970s. The London Transport Museum holds numerous examples of his design work. His paintings are rare at auction but a closely related landscape composition from 1949, 'St.Paul', is in the collection of Salford Museum and Art Gallery (BBC Your Paintings / Harry Stevens).

The rest bound in the original linen, except for the following bound in original hard backs: 1950, 1959 (duplicate), 1960 (duplicate), and 1965; hard backs with dust jackets: 2007-2010. 1902 and 1904: front wrapper and spine are in facsimile; 1903, 1925, 1936 and 1937: have facsimile spines; 1922, 1923, 1930 and 1933 are with the spine block splitting (but holding well).
