WAR TIME FOOTBALL A very interesting item, a rare selection letter from the F.A dated 27 Nov 1945 addressed to George Hardwick (Middlesbro and England) informing him of his selection should a match be arranged between an F.A XI v Dynamo Moscow at Villa Park on Wednesday 5 Dec 1954 The letter has been signed by Stanley Rous and Hardwick had been requested to treat the letter as private and confidential (underlined). Despite Villa Park printing 70,000 tickets the match did not take place as news from a Moscow radio station announced that the Dynamo team had been ordered home and this was seen as a political decision. SPEEDWAY Welsh Dragons v Plymouth Devils, Provincial League Championship, 23 June 1962 at Neath Abbey, results neatly entered in red ink, vertical fold. Neath Abbey were known as the Welsh Dragons and only rode for 1 year in 1962 and programmes are rather rare. It was a crazy start to their season as the first two matches were cancelled by a smallpox outbreak and rain. Generally good

WAR TIME FOOTBALL Rare four page programme for Representative match played on 15 Feb 1943 at Royal Marines Ground, Chatham, between Joe Mercers XI v Archie Clarke's XI in aid of Prisoners of War Fund. Joe Mercers team was all bar 1 player the England team including Matthews, Hagan, Soo, Cullis, Swift etc. Archie Clark's team included Tottenham players Chisholm, Whatley, Howe and Hooper. Horizontal fold and slight marks. Noted in bold type on bottom of back page "Finally this programme is valuable salvage - do not destroy it". Generally good
1950 WORLD CUP TICKET A full ticket, which is unstamped, for the Maracana Stadium in Rio De Janeiro. The ticket states Numbered Seat in Portuguese and 2nd Match. When you look at the fixtures the 2nd match at the Maracana was England v. Chile but after research, collectors claim the England v. Chile was stamped on the ticket and is extremely rare and that the 2nd match ticket relates to Spain v. Chile. Good
FRANK 'NOEL' GEORGE / WOLVES Rare signed photograph of Frank George known as Noel and signed in ink "yours sincerely N.George". He was goalkeeper for Wolves 1920 to 1927 when he was forced to retire due to a terminal illness and died at the age of 32 in 1929 The photo measures 3" x 2", black and white, slight marks on back. A rare collection of 18th century bound legal documents relating to the Manor Wilbraham Anglesey in Cambridgeshire Note: the Manor was bequeathed by Thomas Wale of London in 1625 to the City of Coventry to provide for a school for the poor at Monk's Kirby in Warwickshire. These documents therefore relate to proceedings before the Mayor and Bailiffs of the City of Coventry although they relate to property in Cambridgeshire.

(illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: Lot 1758: the fist inner liner overall surface crazing minor rubbing to the gilt rim, polychrome decoration good condition, bucket, overall surface crazing minor rubbing to the gilt rim raffia handle good condition for age, minor rubbing to the gilt rim on the handle, the handles - paint flaking to the green shaped rock on the top of the left hand branch to which the bird is sitting, paint loss approximately 2 x 1cm and a smaller paint flake, overall surface crazing to the body. Second pale - the liner, overall surface crazing minor rubbing to the gilt rim, decoration good condition, the bucket, minor rubbing to the gilt rim, overall surface crazing, minor rubbing to some of the outline of the decoration of the peacock, otherwise decoration good for age, raffia handle good for age, rubbing to the gilt rim of the handles minor.
