[Brontë (Emily)] Wuthering Heights. A Novel. By the author of "Jane Eyre", first American edition, light foxing, Cavendish Circulating Library label to front free endpaper, original cloth, spine slightly darkened, spine ends and corners a little bumped with small chip to head of spine, some light rubbing but a sharp and excellent copy overall, [Smith 3 pp.74-75], New York, Harper & Brothers, 1848. ⁂ The first American edition and second overall, published only five months after the true first edition, rare in the original cloth and in such good condition. The misattribution on the title (an issue that would plague the sisters until Charlotte revealed their true identities in her preface to the second edition of Wuthering Heights) was partly the result of a deliberate attempt by Thomas Newby to confuse the authorship in order to extract more money from the American publishers.

Lot 462

Eliot (T.S.) The Waste Land and Other Poems, first edition, signed by the author on title with printed name crossed through, occasional spotting, paperclip rust mark to head of half-title and front free endpaper, endpapers a little browned, original boards, a little bumped and spotted, dust-jacket, price-clipped, spine slightly faded, spine ends and corners a little chipped, some light staining to panels, [Gallup A35x], 1940; and a reprint of the same edition, 8vo (2) ⁂ Rare signed.

It was originally published in Prague in 1571. Literature: Adams A309.

Lot 331

[Brontë (Charlotte, Emily & Anne)], "Currer, Ellis & Acton Bell". Poems, first edition, first issue, lacking errata slip, Westleys & Co. binders label to rear pastedown, light abrasion mark to upper hinge, original green ribbed cloth with harp design covers, spine lettered in gilt, spine slightly faded, minor bumping to spine ends and corners, some light marking to covers but an excellent example overall, preserved in custom morocco-backed drop-back box (spine a little faded), 8vo, [Smith 1 pp.5-6 & 12], [John Hasler, for] Aylott and Jones, 1846. ⁂ An excellent example of the scarce first issue of the Brontë poems in the rare intermediate state, Smith mentions only 7 copies with the Aylott and Jones imprint and the harp binding. Following the successes of the Brontë sisters in their publications of 1847 and 1848, Aylott and Jones wrote to Charlotte Brontë to ask her how they should proceed with regards to the unsold copies of Poems still in their possession. Charlotte in turn wrote to her current publishers, Smith and Elder, ostensibly to ask for their advice, but hinting that they might succeed in the sale of the volumes where Aylott and Jones had not. Smith and Elder decided to reissue the work under their own name and purchased the remaining 961 copies to be reoffered with a new title page and rebound in the green harp binding. Copies such as this one in the 1848 binding but with the Aylott and Jones title page likely exist because the binder either neglected or ran out of the new Smith and Elder title page. Provenance: H.Bradley Martin (auction ticket loosely inserted; sold his sale, lot 2658, Sotheby's New York, 30th April, 1990).

Lot 293

Lot 443

Kelmscott Press.- Menus for the Third and Fourth Annual Printers' Dinners, each 4pp., printed in red and black with press borders and device on final leaf, with note by Freeman Bass (co-founder and Honorary Treasurer of the William Morris Society) quoting Sydney Cockerell "...the two menus are exceedingly rare..." loosely inserted, both removed from album with traces of glue to edge of final leaf, damp-staining to lower inner corners, first with small tear to lower edge of first leaf, [Peterson D8], 8vo, Kelmscott Press, Friday, August 31, 1894 and Friday, September 13, 1895. ⁂ Very rare. Four annual dinners were held, these are the last two, both held at the Dumb Bell Hotel, Taplow, Berks. Peterson quotes a note by Cockerell "A very few copies of these four menus were printed. The arrangement was that of the compositors and was not shown to Morris." Having free rein the compositors used as many Kelmscott types and ornaments as possible.

This 1540 edition is a substantial reprint (except for the dedicatory epistle to Filippo Pandolfini, not included) of the first Theocritus issued from the Florentine printing house, which appeared in January 1515 and was edited for Filippo Giunta by Eufrosino Bonini. This copy once belonged to the great Italian bibliophile Giacomo Manzoni, whose outstanding library was sold in 1893. I. The first work is one of the earliest reports in French of the travels and discoveries made by the Florentine navigator Amerigo Vespucci in America. The first edition had been published in 1516/17 by Galliou Dupré, who was granted the Royal privilege to print Le Nouveau Monde. Despite this privilege, the work was immediately pirated, and some editions appeared on the market without privilege or imprint, all exceendingly rare, and recorded nowadays only in two or three copies. The present edition was in all likelihood issued by the Parisian Jean Trepperel, somewhere between 1516 and 1525. II. Very rare edition of the Histoires de la terre d'Orient by the Prince Hetoum, printed by Philippe le Noir. This copy is seemingly of a different issue from the one in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (coll. Rés. O2R 18 B), with slight variations to the title-page. II. The third work is an early and lavisly illustrated edition of the first hunting book to be printed in France. It was issued by Jean Trepperel, and is datable between 1525 and 1529. Of this edition two different issues are recorded. The present copy belongs to the first issue, with printer's device printed in black on the colophon leaf. Despite their individual defects, this is an outstanding sammelband of truly rare works. Literature: Thiébaud, 396-399.

Lot 183

Galenus (Claudius) [Opera], 5 vol., pagination: I. [4], 24, 181, [1 blank] ll.; 108 ff., II. [3], [1 blank], 184 ff.; 106 ff., Greek and Roman type, woodcut Aldine device on title and on verso of final leaf. III. [4], 106 ff.; 155, [1] ff., IV. [4], 113, [1 blank] ff.; 74, 6, 57, [1] ff., V. [4], 346, [6] ff., final quire AAA bound between quires Τττ and Υυυ, Greek and Roman type, woodcut Aldine device on title and on verso of final leaf of all volumes (Fletcher f4; A3c), capital spaces, all blank leaves present, vol.2 stain at top of a2 and a3, repair to b1 and in blank gutter of n1, wormhole through last several leaves slightly affecting text, 20th-century brown morocco blind-tooled in period style by Bernard Middleton, folio (314-318 x 218-224mm.), Venice, Heirs of Aldus Manutius and Andrea Torresano, April-August 1525. ⁂ Editio princeps of Galen of Pergamum, one of the 'biggest' books printed by the Aldine Press, directed by Aldus's father-in-law Andrea Torresano. It is one of the rarest of all Aldine editions, "only two or three complete sets have been sold during the past 30 years [...] It is so rare and consequentely so expensive because of the limited number of originally printed copies. Being an exceptional case for Aldus- editions, the initial print run remained the only one." (L. Perrilli, A Risky Enterprise. The Aldine Edition of Galen, p. 447). The works of Galen appeared for the first time in Latin translation in 1490 (Goff G, 37), and only a few of his writings were available in Greek, e.g. the Περὶ φιλοσόφου ἱστορίας, printed in the second volume of the Aldine Aristotle Corpus, and the Θεραπευτικά published in Venice by Zacharias Kallierges and Nicolaos Vlastos (Goff G, 38). The delay was due to the partial disappearance of the written heritage of Greek medicine, and the great difficulty in finding Greek medical manuscripts, "and then there was a gap of a generation until the Aldine firm put out a series of medical authors, Galen in 1525, Hippocrates in 1526, Paul of Aegina, and the first half (only) of Aetius in 1534" (V. Nutton, Greek Science in Sixteenth Century, p. 20). (as issued), first editions, a mixed set, some light soiling and creasing to corners (heavier to Agnes Grey), Agnes Grey with marginal browning to title, C7 and O5 with neatly repaired tears to margins and E2 with closed tear to foot, vol.1 & 2 contemporary half calf, rebacked preserving original backstrip, extremities rubbed, vol.3 modern antique-style half calf to match, spines gilt, [Smith 3 pp.60-63], 8vo, Thomas Cautley Newby, 1847. ⁂ The rare first editions of the two sisters' first novels. Wuthering Heights is one of the great romantic works and remains one of the most popular novels in the English language. Wuthering Heights and Agnes Grey were written during the remarkable 1846-47 period that also saw Charlotte write The Professor and Jane Eyre. These two novels, along with The Professor were sent as a trio to publishers from July 1846, meeting with uniform rejection until around a year later the publisher Thomas Cautley Newby expressed an interest in the novels of Emily and Anne. The terms offered to the sisters were poor: between them they had to raise £50 to cover publication costs, to be repaid if and when the novels raised enough money through sales (neither sister saw a penny). Nevertheless the sisters accepted, however Thomas Cautley Newby, essentially a one-man operation, moved slowly and their novels were not published until two months after Jane Eyre (despite this , and even then filled with the errors the authors had hoped would be expunged at the proof stages. The exact number of copies printed is unclear although Charlotte would later mention in a letter of September 1850 that Newby had undertaken to print 350 copies before subsequently declaring that he had printed only 250.

Plato. Timaeus Platonis, sive de universitate, 2 parts in 1, collation: A-Q4; A-Z4, Aa-Cc4, Dd2; 127, [1]; 212 pp., lacking final blank, woodcut device on title of second part, woodcut decorated initials and diagrams, occasional foxing, first gathering of second part browned, bibliographical notes in French in an 18th-century hand on rear pastedown, 17th-century mottled calf, rebacked preserving original spine and recornered, 4to (216 x 160mm.), Paris, Jean Bienné [and Guillaume Morel], 1563-1579. ⁂ Exceedengly rare Parisian edition of this platonic dialogue. The original Greek text is accompanied, in the second part, with its translation into Latin by Cicero and the 4th-century philosopher Chalcidius, who was also responsible for the commentary appended at the end of this edition. The second part of the volume has a separate title-page with the date '1563', whereas the colophon bears the imprint 'Absolvebat Ioannes Bene-Natus pridie Kalendas Maias 1569'. After Morel's death in 1564, Bienné had married his widow and inherited the press. In 1569 he put on the market copies of the Latin edition of Timaeus printed by Morel in 1563, which had remained unsold, adding a 'new' colophon with his name as the printer and the date '1569'. Later, in 1579 Bienné published a Greek edition of the Timaeus, supplementing it, as the general title-page states, with its Latin translation, re-using unsold copies of the aforementioned edition of 1563-1569. In his bibliography Imprimeurs Parisiens Renouard records only the Latin part of this Morel edition, thus confirming the great rarity of the 'complete' edition put on sale by Bienné in 1579, and offered here. Provenance: unidentified monogram combining the letters H F, and D on the front pastedown, followed by the early shelfmark 'R. no ii. i'. Literature: Hoffmann III, 296 and 304; Renouard, Imprimeurs Parisiens, III, 624.

Vauxhall PA Cresta 1958 - The VauxhallPa Cresta was a pure nod to the cars our friends over the pond were producing. Masses of chrome, wrap round bumpers and dare I say itrear fins! These cars were pure Rock and Roll. This lovely examples previous owner spent thousands sensitively renovating it to the condition you see here today. The exterior body work was stripped and any corrosion that was either present or likely to be if left, was removed and treated (remember 50ês cars were almostBio-degradable when mixed with our weather). Then it was professionally painted to a very high standard and is just as shiny today. Another thing that is nice is its exterior chrome work. It is original so unlike parts that have been re-chromed, the chrome on these has that deep lustre and is very presentable for its age.The interior received the same care and attention. The carpets were replaced throughout while the seats and door panels were retained and fully refurbished, in an effort to try and maintain some originality rather than just swapping out for new. The dash and steering wheel are original and in very good but used condition.Mechanically the 2200cc engine and its gearbox are excellent. The vendor reports it asVery nice to drive with no whines or grinds The rest of the general mechanics and electrics are all good and fully functioning. The sort of car you can get in and use. With only 28 PAês left registered for road use here in the UK, you would be right for thinkingBlimey! Not seen one of those for a long time They really are a true 50ês Classic, pleasing to the eye, as rare as henês teeth and some might sayBest of all being a 1958 car it is both road tax and MOT free.So rare to be offered on the open market outside of owners clubs etc. This PA represents a rare opportunity to own a bit of 50ês nostalgia while being an excellent investment as well.

Lot 124

AUSTIN A55MG Dealers Service Van 1955 - This quaint Right Hand Drive 1955 Austin van had a very pleasant past. Working as a road side assistant vehicle and parts lugger for a French based MG dealership until retired from active service in the late 60ês. At this point rather than sell it on, it became a permanent fixture in the dealerês window until eventually sold to a local chap, when the dealership closed its doors.Since being repatriated to the UK the vendor has had any and all corrosion professionally removed and repaired. The clutch has been replaced along with a new clutch master cylinder. The brakes had the same treatment with shoes etc being replaced along with the master cylinder as well. Now it runs, drives, stops well and comes with a full UK MOT.Inside, years of sitting in the window had taken the toll on the seats so these have been freshly re-upholstered in a period material and colour, while carpets, that it never had, have been custom fitted. More for aesthetics than anything else although this also helps to quiet things down when driving. The body is very solid and original, the areas that have received attention will need to be resprayed but it would be a shame to paint the whole van as you would lose its originality and the signage that has lasted all these years. This is a very rare van, with a nice history. One that once UK registered you can use as is or just tidy the paintwork and it will make an interesting show vehicle. It would also make an excellentPromotional Vehicle or Classic Car Race Team service barge. With the UK MOT done and its French Papers in hand the registration process is a simple one, one that we are happy to carry out for you for a small fee or advise on for free.

Lot 102

Ford FiestaJava 1600cc 1994 _ A classic in the making? Well if itês like every other Fiesta that has gone before, this tidy MK3 version is destined to be especially when as rare as this one.In 1994, just before the MK4 Fiesta was introduced, Ford produced the Fiesta MK3Java as a bit of a special model, featuring as standard a higher quality interior, sunroof, 5 doors, alloy wheels, 5 speed manual gearbox, electric windows, remote boot release and power steering and powered by their venerable 1300cc engine. But oddly, as a special order, they also offered it with a 1600cc twin cam engine under the bonnet!! Why you have to ask? As it was marketed as a small family hatch back. How many were sold in this spec no one seems to know? But with this being one of them and only 25 in total (1300 and 1600cc) left licensed for road use, itês pretty rare. With only 3 owners, a full history, low miles of just short of 58K and a current MOT through to September 2017, itês hardly surprising the vendor describes the car as mechanically sound. But also says out on the open road the extra 50% power hike over its 1300cc sibling, can really be felt with performance more akin to ahot hatch. Gearbox, clutch breaks etc are all good. As are its original alloys and its tyres. Body work is good and polishes well with just a few dinks and scratches. Offered at a price it is worth buying and just sticking away or as an excellent introduction to theretro car scene for our younger clients. These little cars were almost like Fords secret and are bound to become a sought after car as all performance related Fords do. Get in quick before someone else does.

Lot 192

Volkswagen Scirocco “Scala” 1989 - Far rarer than its brother the Golf and now becoming very sought after is the Volkswagen Scirocco and the special addition “Scala” was always a rare sight even when new. This particular car has survived incredibly well with diamond straight body work and no signs of rust and being a Scala, is as original and finished in factory white with its special edition alloy wheels (which have recently been restored). Open the tail gate and all the usual suspect areas where rust can be found are like new, including the underneath edge of the tail gate and boot floor areas. Inside the door shuts on the A post are signs of the original factory grease still and the car was Ziebarted from new to stop any rust getting into the chassis, doors or floor pans. The interior is incredible, totally original with no signs of wear not even on the driver seat bolsters, un heard of without being retrimed! The 1800cc injected engine fires instantly and soon settles to an even tick over, the vendor has just had a new exhaust manifold fitted. He reports that on the road the car feels so much newer than its age being quick enough to have some fun, while not being expensive to run. Its gear box and clutch are good along with all the general mechanics and electrics. But no more than you would expect from a car that has only 100,497 miles on the clock and is complete with an excellent full service history ( VW up to 68,000 year 2000 then VW specialist ) plus a file full of receipts, bills, old MOt’s and its handbook. With a current MOT through to June 2017 and not to be confused with the “Normal” VW’s on the market, this car is truly ready to go and offers an excellent opportunity for any collector of 80’s cars or Volkswagen fan.

Lot 135

Here at ECCA we are honoured to of been chosen to offer for auction the “Steve Tandy” collection of Motorsport and Motorsport derived cars. This collection is the fruit of one mans labour, both in the Motorsport arena, where he has won multiple World, European and British championships and his private passion for fast cars. From a one owner “find” Ford Escort Cosworth, multi championship winning National Hot Rod cars, historic Ford Rally cars to big growling American V8 race cars there really is something from most forms of circuit or broken surface racing in the collection, offered here today!First up is this instantly recognisable and favourite of just about every teenager in the 80’s, 1987 Ford Sierra “Cosworth” affectionately known as a “Whale Tail Cossie”. These cars marked just about the end of the mad pursuit in the eighties by companies like Ford to be top dogs in the “Let’s take a boring family saloon car and turn it into a true performance car”game!! Alongside offerings from BMW, Audi and even Volvo. Somehow though it was Ford that captured most people’s imagination, all of a sudden the boring and mundane 1600cc Rep Mobile that you or your dad drove every day actually looked like the cars seen winning just about every saloon car race series in the country. You could even buy that OTT rear spoiler and bolt it on, if it did not actually make your car faster who cared it “looked” like it would be!!Body work is in great condition, it has not even been cleaned in the pictures. That is as it has been kept. Door shuts and body lines are excellent with no signs of repairs or impacts. Open the doors and the door steps and apertures all round are perfect with no rust or corrosion evident. This goes for the doors themselves as well. All the relevant body kit parts are present and correct and the aftermarket wheels are in good condition.Inside is excellent. The Recaro seats had a reputation for being “delicate” well not liking being sat on which is a bit inconvenient when you are a seat! Somehow, apart from some slight looseness of the front seat bases material, the seats in this car have survived very well. The dash is good with just one or two minor cracks that all Fords of this time suffered with. Not bad but there. All the original instruments are in place and working, even the original stereo is still fitted so no nasty big holes and poor wiring from badly fitted aftermarket stereos ( this is not tested at time of writing but will update once done so) The LCD clock works but has dimmed with time. Even the rear parcel shelf is there, slightly bowed from time if you open the rear hatch, but not noticeable when closed.Last on the road in 1997 this superb condition example should be recommissioned before being used, more as a precautionary thing and something anyone with any mechanical sympathy would do automatically. However it has regularly been run up during those years, its wheels have been rotated to stop any flat spotting and it has on the odd occasion been taken out for a drive, so it does start and run, gearbox clutch and transmission are fully functioning as are the brakes and all electrics. We all know how strong values of all Fast Fords are, with cars often changing hands multiple times and at a higher price each time. It is very rare for a “new” car to come to market such as this one as once in private collections they tend to stay there. Making this car an excellent opportunity for any serious collector or lover of “Blue Oval” cars.Note: The very rare and hard to find genuine work shop manuals are with the car.

Lot 101

Volkswagen T25Pop -top Subaru powered ! 1982 - Fresh from storage, is this nice classic VWPop top Camper but one with a difference. Gone is the original and slightly asthmatic engine, now in the back is a Subaru flat 4 motor which has been mated to the original 4 speed manual Volkswagen gear box, so same gearing just more power. Along with this clever conversion is the fitment of a Vauxhall derived electrically assisted power steering, both of these modifications help to make this 1982 V-dub easier to live with on todayês roads.Body work is very good having benefited at some time recently from a refresh of its paint. No it is not concourse but still nice, shiny and well, white! The rare and desirablePop- Top is fully functioning with good condition material inserts.Inside you will find what would be calledperiod fixtures and fittings. Looking to be original all the various appliances are said to be functioning by the vendor but we have to say we would recommend a full service by a qualified engineer prior to use and all risks are borne by the user. Condition throughout is good with a nicerock anê roll bed fridge and sink.Mechanically everything is said to be good and the vendor will be putting a fresh MOT on the Van before the auction, so all electrics, brakes etc will be up to current UK standards.Having spent many periods over the last years, stood up while the various modifications and improvements have been carried out, in fact according to the MOT history less than 500 miles have been recorded in the last 11 years, this very popular model VW has survived very well and now is available only due to its loss of storage in the workshop where it has been kept. It is being offered with a reserve set well below where we advised as the vendor wants it to sell and this way its more or less guaranteed to do so. Someone is going to get a bargain!

Lot 154

Ford Escort MK3 1.6 Convertible 1985 - First registered in August 1985, this pretty 1600cc Ford Escort Cabriolet is presented in an unusual metallic green with cream soft top colour combination. Someone at some point in its life, prior to the vendors ownership, spent a lot of time and money fitting the colour matched body kit and addressing the body work issues so today what you have is a nice example of what is now becoming a rare car.Interior has also received the same treatment with different seats and dash and while being in good condition and very useableas is there are some areas of improvement that can be carried out by the new owner. The odometer does read 25k but this is not warranted or claimed to be correct. The current owner and vendor has carried out further improvements and serviced the car while in his keep. Nothing major just small improvements that have continued with the cars evolution into what is fast becoming a very well sorted car.So if you are looking for a good solid example of Fords ever popular Escort, one you can drive and improve if you wish, while the value goes up. This could be one to have a good look at. Current MOT is until April 2018.

Lot 149

BMW 325i E30 M-Tech Convertible 1991 - This very desirable 1991 BMW E30 325i Convertible would be rare enough if that was it. Finding an E30, any E30 in this condition nowadays is a feat in itself, but this is not only in superb condition but one of only a hundred or soM-Tech Convertibles produced in right hand drive form! With only 111, 301 miles on the clock and having had 108,618 miles showing when MOTêd back in 2006, it has spent most of the last 11 years stored in the hands of collectors, this is backed up by its on line MOT history and prior to that the history file it comes with that includes bills, invoices and 16 service stamps, the last of which is for cam-belt tensioners pump and service. Its dark grey metallic body work is in excellent condition with even the deeper chin spoiler surviving the rigours of low kerbs and sleeping police men, appearing to be undamaged. The widelattice alloys are shod with expensive Continental tyres all round with deep tread and the alloys themselves in excellent order. The convertible hood is very good but in case you have not spotted it, we draw your attention to the very very rare hard top that is fitted and comes with the car, also in great condition.Inside all theM-Sport fixtures are there with the specially M Sportmonikered grey leather seats being in very good condition, needing little more than some leather feed and not having any sign of what is almost a standard feature on these cars, holes in the bolsters! The again rare to find rear wind deflector is also there, fitted in the back to keep that annoying chill off the back of your neck when motoring with the roof down.Mechanically all is described as in very good condition. The engine pulls very strongly, feeling much more powerful than its claimed when new 168HP.That coupled to an automatic gearbox that still changes as smoothly as when new, gives this lovely car enough performance to embarrass many modern day cars while still making it a very nice car to drop the roof and travel long distances in comfort. When you consider the E30 Model design dates back to its launch in 1982, you realise just how good these cars were back then and just why they are so popular today. The vendor of the car will be placing a new MOT on it prior to the auction so it will be ready to go to its next lucky owner. No this is not a cheap E30, is there even such a thing anymore? What it is though is one of the rarest E30ês produced numerically, fitted with some very rare options making it a bit special to collectors and lovers of the BMW marque, all wrapped up in a lovely colour and condition. Try finding another like it! Prices of E30ês are up year on year, so a great investment as well.

Lot 210

Audi “Final Edition” Cabriolet 2.6 Auto 1999 - This lovely condition Audi Convertible is finished in a special order colour called “Orinoco Pearl Effect” and was part of the Exclusive Special Order Range. First registered in 1999 it is actually a 2000 model and so part of the Final Edition range as well, this is a rare car.Powered by Audi’s silky smooth 2.6 V6 engine driving through their equally smooth automatic gearbox, it still according to the vendor, drives beautifully with no faults. Having said that it has only done 91000 miles with a full service history. A full service including the pollen filter has just been carried out and at the same time the anti-roll bar bushes and drop links were changed for its new MOT.Externally the paint work is very good and cosmetically the car benefits from a recently fitted new rear screen in the powered hood, the hood itself has just had a service including replacement new looms and its alloy wheels refurbished.Inside is lovely and apart from the power hood other factory extras the car has are Burr Walnut finishers, Fine Nappa hide leather, winter pack, cruise control and headlight washers. This is a very high spec car.Now becoming very rare and desirable with this engine, spec and colour.

Lot 125

Ford Escort Cosworth Low Miles 1993 - The Ford Escort Cosworth has to be one of the most sought after and hence, collectable cars to of been produced in the 90ês. At this point I think we need to say thatanyone reading this does not need to be told about the model. They have been elevated to cult status with many a hushed or rowdy conversation taking place in Pubs, Car Parks and even dare I say bedrooms (–You love that damn car more than me sought of conversations!) the length and breadth of the country. Everyone knows what they are so on to this actual car.First registered in January 1993 this lovely condition car is in the sought after colour of metallicMallard green and apart from the upgraded blue Samco silicon hoses and theGroup A breather system using Goodrich braided steel hoses under the bonnet, appears to of survived in its original state, a rare feat indeed. The current owner a avid collector of Ford Motorsport cars, purchased it in 2013 with a fresh MOT showing 84121 miles, now 4 years later it has done 84187, another 66 miles and most of that was the drive home! In that time it has sat in his dry garage . So with this lack of use and his imminent relocation the decision has been taken to offer it to the market, but in his wordsIf it does not sell at a sensible price, it will just go back into storage elsewhere So this is a one time chance to buy being offered here in this auction. The body work is described as very good and needing little more than a good deep polish from being stood for so long under cover. There is how ever a light cosmetic damageCat D insurance claim listed against the car from back in 2011, but whoever repaired it did an exceptional job, any paint work that was carried out is matched perfectly.(Note: Please also bare in mind that if this level of damage occurred today, with todayês values, the percentage of value versus cost to repair would be so low it would not even be recorded!). Glass all round, apart from the windscreen, is original and still carries the dealer etched security numbers offered at the time to help guard against theft. The original alloys are in good order with just a couple of minor kerb scuffs. The vendor tells us that prior to purchase he inspected it underneath as well, on a ramp. It was excellent under there, no corrosion or damage.Interior is very good, the leather trim is in good order needing no more than a good feed. Carpet, roof lining and door cards are all very nice. There is an old mobile phone mount that could do with being removed from the side of the centre console, but any holes left would not be seen once removed. The dash is again very good with all the standard clocks in place, just the LCD clock has deteriorated withbleeding to the display. The engine? Well itês lovely, starting instantly with no nasty puffs of smoke from the exhaust, no ominous rattles or reasons to worry. While unfortunately the original service book has gone missing, there is a file of bills and receipts recording the work that has been carried out over the years. Also included is all its old MOT certificates, including its very first one, aTracker certificate if you want to get it re-instated and even its original bill of sale, all these things help to back up the very low mileage recorded on the odometer.Everything else, general mechanics, electrics, transmission etc are all stated to be very good and the vendor will be placing a new MOT on the car prior to sale. One thing we do always say, even with a fresh MOT, when a car has stood for some years we would advise a level of recommissioning should be undertaken prior to use. With prices of these very desirable Fords sometimes being nearly twice what they cost new, this lovely example is being offered with a very realistic reserve and one that is not likely to be repeated in the future and yes the PersonalCOS plate does come with it.

Jaguar XJ6Sovereign 4litre Very Low Miles 1994 - Only now available due to bereavement is this very nice JaguarSovereign with a very low recorded mileage of 31,113. Last used in 2010 the car was presented for its mot which it passed with only two minor advisories, a cracked door mirror and delaminated front number plate, even that was not bad enough to fail! The MOT tester did comment that he had not seen a Jaguar of this era as nice as this one underneath before. The MOT history with the car goes a long way to back this low mileage up, unfortunately the family have not so far managed to find its history book but we will up-date if they do.Body work is very good, yes it does have the odd scratch, more from being stored for so long. There is however a tennis ball sized dent on the right hand side of the rear panel below the rear light. But so rare to find, no rust! There is some very minor corrosion on the alloy wheels, again more due to standing than exposure to bad weather.Interior is excellent, being theSovereign it has all the electrical options including the upgradedHarman/Kardon stereo and electrically adjusted front seats with memory on both. The leather and wood is excellent with the rear seat looking like it has not been used. The roof lining is beginning to droop as all Jag roof linings do at this age if not already replaced. The engine and general mechanics are all very good as they should be and as we said it has just passed its MOT with flying colours. Representing a very rare opportunity to own a low mileage Jaguar, this really is one to buy and keep while it becomes more and more valuable over the next couple of years.

Lot 142

This glorious and painfully pretty 1966 Alfa Romeo Spider “Duetto” 1600 was purchased by its one owner from the Alfa Romeo main dealers one mile from his house in Paris. They are still there, as is he and they have serviced it from new. So this car is not only exceedingly rare but is a “One owner with history car” not many can boast that! Coming to us direct from Paris, the car will have its French papers but we will not have had time to put it through the UK registration process. If this is required then we will do this for a UK buyer after purchase, if not required we can arrange transport (at buyers cost) using the original papers. The body work has been refreshed in its time and looks good today, being very solid in the boot floor and front inner wing areas and the paint work is very presentable with a deep shine. The soft top hood is in very good condition with only very slight discolouring to the rear window. The interior is original and in very good condition complete with its rubber floor mats and period radio in the dash. It still has the stickers on the windscreen telling you how to run theengine in from new and tyre pressures for different makes of tyres! Mechanically the vendor tells us that everything is very good, the engine gives good oil pressure and once warmed through, a nice even tick over. Gearbox is smooth in operation and the clutch functions correctly. General mechanics including brakes and electrics are good. We are expecting this little gem to be in the UK by the end of the third week of April so we will update this listing then withfurther details.
