Size Large. Two very small nicks to the bezel edge of the sapphire crystal. Stones are diamonds. Yellow metal bezel not tested to avoid damage but in our opinion would test as gold.

PASTE INGAGLIO RING, 19TH CENTURYThe paste stone resembling banded agate depicting a seated female figure, possibly the Goddess Victory, mounted in yellow gold, ring size OFootnotes:ProvenanceThe Descendants of Alfred, Lord Tennyson Lots 17 – 34Alfred Tennyson (1809-1892) was one of the most celebrated poets of the Victorian era, succeeding William Wordsworth as Poet Laureate in 1850. His most famous works include 'The Lady of Shalott', 'In Memoriam A.H.H.' and the 'Charge of the Light Brigade'. His poetry was a major influence on the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, who considered him one of their 'immortals' and Queen Victoria was an admirer. In 1856, from the proceeds of 'Maud', Tennyson purchased Farringford, a manor house in Freshwater on the Isle of Wight. The estate remained in family until 1945.The Tennyson's circle was wide. The mount and setting have general surface wear, with scuffs and nicks/chips. The shank has been re-sized and has two associated solder joins. Metal standard is untested and the mount is indistinctly stamped '10%'. Width of setting 14.6mm. Height of setting 7.3mm. Gross weight approximately 5.7gm.

A diamond panel bracelet, designed as a series of openwork navette-shaped panels, millegrain set with old and lasque-cut diamonds, spaced by similarly set transitional-cut diamonds edged with scalloped decoration, on an expanding baton-link bracelet, two colour precious metal mounted, total weight of transitional and old-cut diamonds approximately 0.60ct, length 16.5cmThe principal diamonds are well matched, bright and lively, one stone with a surface-reaching fracture, the remaining stones with estimated VS2 to SI2 clarity and H to J colour, assessed mounted. The transitional diamonds graduate from approximately 0.10ct to 0.12ct each in size. Lasque-cut diamonds have a typically greyish, fractured and chipped appearance. The settings and bracelet links have general surface wear, with occasional shallow dings/impressions to the baton links and some play to the bracelet springs. The tongue clasp is loose fitting and the safety chain is broken. Length of diamond set section 6.5cm. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approximately 10.2gm.

Lot 125

A ruby, sapphire and diamond harem ring, designed as a trio of three stone hoops, set with a cushion-shaped sapphire, a cushion-shaped ruby and graduated old and single-cut diamonds, with partial hallmark, total diamond weight approximately 0.25ct, ring size MScuffs, nicks and small chips to ruby and sapphire, each stone measures approximately 3 to 3.5mm diameter. Diamonds are bright and lively but with variable clarity, some stones with chips and fractures. Most stones have a slight yellowish tint. Diamonds graduate from approximately 0.02ct to 0.10ct in size. It is possible that the three bands have been later soldered together at the back and the mount has also been re-sized, with a later added section. There is a partial 18ct gold hallmark to the central band. There is a possible solder repair to the back of one of the bands and the mount has general surface wear. Some of the claws may require re-tipping. Gross weight approximately 3.9gm. Width of bands across settings (from top to bottom) 14.4mm.

The girdle has some small nicks/minor chips and there is a small trigon to one of the side crown facets. Facet edges have localised abrasion. Estimated SI1 to SI2 clarity and K colour, assessed mounted. The ring mount has general wear, scuffs and chips/nicks throughout, with thinning to the claws, some of which may require re-tipping. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approx. 6.2gm.

A ruby and diamond three stone ring, the circular mixed-cut ruby claw set between an old-cut diamond and an old brilliant-cut diamond, two colour precious metal mounted, stamped '18CT', total diamond weight approximately 0.45ct, ring size J½The ruby has a mid pinkish-red hue and contains several mineral inclusions and an area of rutile 'silk' inclusions, with abrasion, scuffs and chips to the surface. Ruby dimensions approximately 4.4mm diameter x 2.9mm depth. Diamonds are of slightly different cuts; one is a cushion-shaped old-cut diamond and the other is a later transitional old brilliant-cut diamond. Both diamonds are fairly lively but the cushion-shaped diamond has a large culet facet and a less bright appearance. Both stones have occasional nicks/chips/naturals. Estimated H to J colour and SI1 to SI3 clarity, assessed mounted. The ring mount has general surface wear, with thinning to the sides of the setting and patchy wear to the claws. The shank has been resized. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approximately 2.2gm.

A diamond single stone ring, the old-cut diamond in eight-claw setting, between baguette-cut diamond set shoulders, above a pierced gallery, white precious metal mounted, indistinctly stamped 'PLAT', principal diamond weight approximately 1.40ct, remaining total diamond weight approximately 0.40ct, ring size approximately Q½The principal diamond is bright and lively, containing a central small inclusion cluster and with scattered chips, nicks and naturals to the girdle, with estimated SI2 to SI3 clarity and K colour, assessed mounted. The diamond is drawing a light yellowish tint that is less obvious when viewed 'face up'. Principal diamond dimensions approximately 7.4mm diameter x 4.3mm depth. Baguette-cut diamonds are well matched and bright, estimated VS2 to SI1 clarity and I to J colour, assessed mounted. The ring mount has general surface wear with a small chip to one corner of one of the baguette settings and rubbing to the sides of the central claw setting. The shank has been re-sized, is slightly off-round and has worn thin. Metal standard is untested. Width of setting 1.7cm. Gross weight approximately 3gm.

A diamond single stone ring, the emerald-cut diamond in four claw setting, between baguette-cut diamond set shoulders, white precious metal mounted, indistinctly stamped 'PLATINUM', principal diamond weight approximately 3.10ct, remaining total diamond weight approximately 0.15ct, ring size MAccompanied by a Diamond Mini Report issued by AnchorCert, stating that the principal diamond has L colour and VS clarity, report no. 20061680, provided April 2023 The principal diamond is bright and lively but drawing a yellowish tint, with estimated L colour and VS1 to VS2 clarity, assessed mounted. Principal diamond dimensions approx. 9.8mm length x 7.2mm x 4.9mm depth. Shoulder set diamonds are well matched, bright and lively, estimated VS2 to SI1 clarity and H to J colour, assessed mounted. The ring mount has general surface wear, scuffs and nicks/chips, with some rubbing to the sides of the setting gallery and to the sides of the shank, and is likely to be mid 20th century in date. Overall width of setting approximately 1.4cm. Height of setting from base to tip of principal stone approximately 6.5mm. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approximately 4.4gm.

A diamond single stone ring, the emerald-cut diamond in four claw setting, between tapered baguette-cut diamond set shoulders, white precious metal mounted, with sprung inner hoop, dimensions of principal diamond approximately 11.6mm length x 8.5mm width x 5.6mm depth, total weight of tapered baguette-cut diamonds approximately 0.50ct, ring size approximately SAccompanied by a Diamond Certificate issued by HRD, stating that the emerald-cut diamond weighs 5.06ct, with VVS1 clarity, I colour and nil fluorescence, dated 17 January 2006, certificate no. 06000957002. Please note that this report is over 10 years old and may require updating.Accompanied by a Memorandum of Purchase and a Valuation for Insurance issued by McKenna & Co., London, both dated 16 April 2007. Scuffs, scratches and small chips/nicks to the setting and mount, commensurate for use. The tapered baguette-cut diamonds are well matched, bright and lively, with estimated VS1 to VS2 clarity and I to J colour, assessed mounted. Some traces of grease and dirt residue to setting, would benefit from professional cleaning/polishing. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approximately 6.9gm.

A pair of diamond single stone ear studs by Boodle & Dunthorne, each round brilliant-cut diamond in collet setting, on post fittings, 18ct yellow gold mounted, hallmarked for London 1999 with maker's mark B&D, total diamond weight approximately 3ct, setting diameter 0.85cmDiamonds are well matched, bright and lively, with estimated VS1 clarity and H to J colour, assessed mounted. Under LWUV testing, one of the diamonds exhibits a fairly strong bluish fluoresecence and the other diamond exhibits weak/none fluorescence. Diameter of each diamond approximately 7.4mm (depth unknown due to setting). Surface scuffs and nicks to mounts, both posts are slightly mis-shapen, marks to posts are clearly struck. The butterflies have lozenge-shaped maker's marks but are untested for metal standard. Gross weight approximately 4gm.

An amethyst, citrine and cultured pearl fringe necklace, the trace-link chain suspending a fringe of alternate pear-shaped faceted amethyst and citrine drops, spaced by single cultured pearls, 18ct gold mounted, maker's mark D&F, length 47cmLight surface wear, scuffs and nicks/small chips to necklace mounts and gemstones. One of the pear-shaped settings has a dark solder join/repair to the tip. Surface blemishes to cultured pearls, each has a subtle pinkish-white lustre. The pear-shaped gemstones measure approximately 9.5mm length x 7 - 8mm width each. Clasp currently functions. Length of stone set section 25.5cm. Hallmarked for Birmingham 2004. Gross weight approximately 14.3gm.
