AN ARTS AND CRAFTS PENDANT NECKLACE, designed as a trio of hammered panels, each centred with a ceramic roundel, connected by chain-link swags, (some swags deficient, later shortened), together with an Arts and Crafts style gem set pendant necklace, and a bar brooch possibly by Bernard Instone, decorated with beaded flowerheads and foliage, stamped 'Silver B.I', first necklace length 29.5cm (3) Condition report - First necklace: Two swags are missing to each side of the central panel. The panels have considerable wear, shallow dents and heavy tarnishing, with splits/thinning to the setting edges. Chips, fractures, pitting and scuffs to roundels. Heavy wear, thinning and occasional splits to chain links. It is possible that the necklace would have originally been longer, as the current length is very short. Length of largest panel approx. 3.8cm. Green stone pendant necklace: Chips, scuffs and nicks to stones. General wear to mount and chain, with scuffs, chips and scratches. Solder joins visible at junctions within panel. The chain has been extended with baton-link sections that do not match the remainder of the chain. The clasp may be later. Total chain length approx. 71cm, pendant length approx. 7.9cm. Brooch: General surface wear and patchy tarnishing throughout. Length approx. 3.9cm.

Lot 72

A GARNET AND DIAMOND CROSS PENDANT, designed as a cross of octagonal and circular mixed-cut garnets, framed by graduated old and rose-cut diamonds, below a pear-shaped garnet bale, two colour precious metal mounted, total diamond weight approximately 0.25ct, length 7.5cm Condition report: Garnets have slightly variable orangey-red and purplish-red hues, the largest stone measuring approx. 15.5mm length x 7mm width x 3.7mm depth. All garnets contain multiple mineral and needle-like inclusions that are visible to the unaided eye, some stones also contain surface-reaching fractures. All have scuffs, nicks and chips to the surface. Diamonds have variable colour and clarity, some stones containing dark mineral inclusions, surface-reaching fractures and chips, some stones with yellow or grey tints. One of the central diamonds is very heavily included and this stone may be a later replacement. Estimated SI1 to P3 clarity and H to M colour, assessed mounted. The edges of the garnet settings are worn, with splits and occasional solder repairs. The upper jump ring fitting has a dark solder join and the back of the bale has been filed. The mount has general surface wear, chips and scuffs, with areas of pitting and porosity and patchy tarnishing. There is a dark solder join/repair to the centre of the mount, between the circular-cut garnet and upper octagonal-cut garnet. Metal standard is untested but possibly a gold/silver combination. Gross weight approx. 16.2gm.
