A ruby and diamond five stone ring, alternately set with cushion-shaped mixed-cut rubies and old-cut diamonds, spaced by rose-cut diamond points, above a scrolled gallery, yellow precious metal mounted, stamped '18ct', (one diamond point deficient), total weight of old-cut diamonds approximately 1.30ct, ring size NCondition report: Rubies are well matched, of mid pinkish-red hues, containing small mineral inclusions, feather and fracture incluisons, and some surface-reaching fractures. The central ruby contains a swathe of 'silk' inclusions, giving a slightly cloudy area, and has circular surface-reaching fractures. Both of the outer rubies have large chips and each of the rubies has chips, scuffs and nicks, commensurate for use. Rubies measure approximately 8.2mm length x 6mm width x 3.1mm depth; 4.5mm length x 3.8mm width x 1.7mm depth; 4.5mm length x 3.9mm width x 1.6mm depth. The old-cut diamonds are well matched and lively but draw a light yellow tint, with estimated SI1 to SI2 clarity and L to M colour, assessed mounted. Diamonds measure approx. 5.7mm length x 5.2mm width x 3.6mm depth and 5.4mm length x 4.9mm width x 3.4mm depth. The diamond points have a typically greyish/brownish hue with surface fractures and a heavily included appearance. These diamonds are assumed to be foil-backed and one is missing to the shoulder. The ring mount has general surface wear, scuffs and nicks, with thinning to the setting edges and areas of porosity. The setting has been re-tipped and the shank may be replaced at the junction with the shoulders. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approx. 5.1gm.

A Victorian garnet and diamond tortoise brooch, modelled with a cabochon garnet shell in closed-back setting, with rose-cut diamond set legs, tail and head and cabochon red stone eyes, gold and silver mounted, length 2.2cmCondition report: The garnet has scuffs and nicks to the surface and is slightly smaller than the collet setting, which may indicate that it is later replaced. The garnet may also have a foil backing, to enhance the deep purplish-red colour. The rose-cut diamonds have a typically greyish appearance, with chips and fractures, and one of the red stone eyes is chipped. The mount has surface wear commensurate for age and use, with patchy tarnishing, and the fitting currently functions, although the pin is mis-shapen. Metal standard is untested. A late 19th century serpent bracelet, modelled as an expandable coiled snake, highlighted with cushion-shaped ruby eyes, signed BREVETÉ LION S.G.D.G and stamped DÉPOSÉ LION, with French Mercury's head gold export marks, total length approximately 75cmCondition report: There is a small break to the underside of the coiled section, near to the tail, where the some of the scales have been pushed downwards. The remainder of the coiled section is mostly good, with occasional flattened areas causing the scales to separate a little, and kinks/shallow dings. The rivet to the head is protruding to one side and there are areas of porosity to the head and tail, associated with solder joins, which appear to be part of manufacture. The coiled section is expandable, but would best fit a small to medium-sized wrist. The Mercury's head export marks are on the tail, with two further indistinct marks. Rubies are well matched, of mid to dark pinkish-red hues with surface wear, one stone containing an area of 'silk' inclusions, giving a cloudy/iridescent appearance. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approx. 53.2gm.

Two gem set settings, comprising a diamond set brooch, modelled as an old-cut diamond cluster surmounted by a rose-cut diamond ribbon bow, (central stone and one rose-cut diamond deficient, later brooch pin), and a half pearl and stone set pendant, modelled as a pear-shaped cluster surmounted by a coronet, (central element deficient), lengths 2cm and 1.9cm respectively (2)Condition report: First setting: diamonds have variable colour and clarity, some stones drawing yellowish/greyish tints or with chips and fractures. One rose-cut diamond is missing. Total weight of old-cut diamonds approx. 0.30ct. Dark solder joins/repairs at junctions within the ribbon bow and patchy dark staining/discolouration throughout the mount. The central vacant setting is heavily worn with thinning to the claws. Dimensions of vacant aperture approx. 9mm x 7.5mm. The pinched claw settings are also heavily worn in places and may require repair. The brooch pin is later added/replaced and currently functioning. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approx. 2.3gm. Second setting: chips, scuffs and fractures to stones and half pearls, some are later replaced.
