A stone composition statue modelled as Pan as a Herm mid 20th century portrayed holding Pipes and draped in a lion skin on a square base 200cm high. The design for this model was illustrated in the catalogue of the Bromsgrove Guild manufactory produced for the Franco-British Exhibition of 1908. The Bromsgrove Guild established in 1894 by Walter Gilbert was famed for decorative metalwork before expanding into stone composition and other media. Indeed this particular model could be ordered in stone composition or lead being priced at 17 gns. and 67 gns. respectively. Provenance: a Cheshire country estate
