Stone (Reynolds, 1909-1979). The Old Rectory, seventeen engravings by Reynolds Stone, Warren Editions, 1976, title, colophon, and seventeen wood engravings, each of the engravings signed in pencil and numbered 13/150, each separately mounted, all contained in original cloth gilt drop-over bookbox, rubbed amd scuffed with some discolouration, 4to. `In addition to superb examples of craftsmanship and design, Reynolds Stone has done a number of wood engravings that record his delight in the trees and streams that surround his home. He has put his heart into them and I think they are the most beautiful things he has done. Seventeen of the original engravings are available in this perfectly produced portfolio` (Kenneth Clark). A Russian silver and enamel compact, one side with a cartouche containing diamond set initials within a diamond surround, with diamond capped corners, the other decorated a diamond and ruby set double eagle motif with yellow coloured metal corners, 8 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by NG Enamel decoration with some light surface scratches and general wear, but no heavy losses. Most serious scratches in cartouche containing cyrillic letters. Diamonds grey in colour. Metal rubbed, interior appears to have some corrosion to and around sprung clasp, stamped with hallmarks to each side. Report by MW The overall weight of the compact is 212 g. There is a shallow crease/minor dent near the hinge. The enamel is generally in good condition with the odd minor scratch and some very minor damage on one corner, generally all of the stones are still intact in the decoration, apart from the odd stone here and there.
