The canvas tension is stiff and the picture is in plane. The paint layer has a network of fine wrinkles, possibly caused during the lining process. Overall, the paint layer is stable and secure. There are areas of overpaint across the surface reinforcing dark passages of the composition which have suffered from wear. In some areas the overpaint has darkened over time and are now visible. The varnish layer is thin and even with a light layer of surface dirt.

There are areas of overpaint across the surface, some of which have slightly darkened, but are generally well matched to the original. The varnish layer is even, glossy and slightly yellowed. There is a layer of surface dirt present and a few scuffs and scratches.
