An emerald and diamond cluster ring, the principal brilliant cut stone surrounded by borders of calibre-cut emeralds and brilliant cut diamonds, the total diamond weight estimated at 0.80 carat CONDITION REPORT: The ring is in good condition. It is size J and weighs 6.7g. The shank is unmarked but in my opinion woudl test as platinum. The diamonds are quite radiant and the ring presents well to the naked eye. The emeralds have some small surface abrasions and chips which are only visible under magnification. The principal stone is of approximately VS1/VS2 clarity. The diamonds in the border are of approximately VS2/SI1 clarity. All of the diamonds are approximately J/K in colour.
A large Chinese archaistic ceremonial jade or stone blade, with a long upper edge along its length and two sides spread outwards, the cutting edge gracefully curved and beveled on both sides, with three holes drilled along the upper edge, the smoothly polished stone of mottled white, grey and olive-brown colour, 21.5cm long x 8.5cm high x 4mm deep Provenance: Purchased by the current vendors late father in the 1960's from the George Family. By repute it was collected by the British officer Robin George during the Boxer rebellion, and thence by descent through his family. Cf. Classics of the Forbidden City, Imperial Seals of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, pp.214, 215 and 217, nos.172, 173 and 175 for similar examples in the collection of the Palace Museum.
A CHINESE PALE CELADON JADE TWO-HANDLED CUP QING DYNASTY The U-shaped bowl carved with studs and a central stylised shou character in relief to each side, all raised on a short foot, the stone with minor russet-brown striations, together with a wood stand, 10.7cm. (2) Provenance: from the collection of Surgeon Lieutenant George Giri, b.1923, purchased in Hong Kong 1962-65.
1st century BC-3rd century AD. A group of carnelian intaglios comprising: one flat oval stone of layered carnelian engraved with scorpion, one with bust of a bearded god (Zeus or Poseidon?), one with standing Mercury wearing a winged hat and holding a staff and money bag, one with standing winged female figure wearing a long chiton and holding a staff, and two with beardless male busts. 4.86 grams total, 11-15mm (1/2"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired by his father in the 1970s; thence by descent. [6] Fine condition.
6th-7th century AD. A bronze lamp with flared base, D-section bowl and nozzle, raised rim to the flat upper face, two pierced lateral lugs, loop handle to the rear with crescent reflector and small loop. Cf. Bailey, D.M. A Catalogue of the Lamps in the British Museum. IV. Lamps of Metal and Stone and Lampstands, London, 1988, item 3797 for type. 493 grams, 15.5cm (6"). From a European collection; previously in a German collection; acquired on the German art market before 1990. [No Reserve] Fine condition.
