Roy Nockolds (1911-1979) A 20th Century English School oil on canvas landscape painting depicting a rural scene with man walking his dog over a stone bridge with river flowing, bare branch trees and cloudy skies. Signed by artist to lower right corner. Set to an ornate gilt frame. Measures approx; 64cm x 73cm.
Silver mount set with an Amethyst intaglio seals (2), The mount is gilt decorated with chased foliage, while the intaglio is engraved with the letter 'D', a smaller seal engraved the letter 'T' and another in a silver mount with floral design and the seal depicting two birds drinking from and fountain surmounted by the word 'Unite' with the stone made from smoky quarts. Beautiful items
Souvenir Handkerchief Programme of the laying of the Foundation Stone of the new Post Office by King Edward VII Monday 16th Oct 1905 printed by Burgess William and Co. A beautiful piece of ephemera on sugar paper with beautiful printed and hand coloured relief with a gold leaf border. A stunning piece. Crêpe handkerchiefs like this were imported from Japan in the late 19th century, already printed with a floral or figurative border. British printers then used them for a variety of souvenirs, as well as theatre programmes, and the firm who printed this specialised in souvenir handkerchief printing.
