A William IV oak and brass mounted rent table by Benjamin Sayle Esq., constructed from timber and stone donated by amongst others the Duke of Norfolk and Earl Fitzwilliam from Roche Abbey, Tankersley Hall, York Minster and Pontefract Castle, the circular revolving top with a central brass plaque within a circular section of oak, inscribed `PONTEFRACT CASTLE 1074`, to a moulded edge applied with a brass band with the remains of an inscription above four frieze drawers and four false fronts, with applied stone panels inscriptions, on a turned stem, quatreform base and sunken wood castors, together with letters and documents relating to the table and the donation of the oak and stone 75.5cm high, 123.2cm diameter. Provenance: Made by Benjamin Sayle Esq., Yorkshire, c. 1835-40 and by descent to General Sir Henry C. Jackson K.C.B. of Piddletrenthide, Dorset and thence to the present owner
A fine quality 19th century Roman style Intaglio set brooch of oval form carved in twin tone hard stone depicting a Roman Centurion rescuing a naked female figure beside a horse, an urn on stand to one side with spear leaning, in oval gold enamel decorated mount of green and white segments (3.2 cm approx).
