A George IV silver plaque, by James Bell, Newcastle 1827, the rectangular tapering plaque mounted on a section of the lid of a coffin and engraved with the inscription "NEWTON HALL. 1ST JANY 1828/to the PATRON, PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENTS, SECRETARIES, COUNCIL and MEMBERS OF the SOCIETY OF ANTIQUARIES OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, This Model OF AN ANCIENT STONE COFFIN DISCOVERED IN CHATTON CHURCH IN MARCH 1814, REDUCED TO ONE THIRD OF THE DIMENSIONS OF THE ORIGINAL, IS PRESENTED WITH SENTIMENTS OF PLEASURE AND RESPECT BY JOSEPH COOK. M.A. VICAR OF CHATTON/ for a history of the discovery of this coffin vide M.S. sent to the a. society by I. Cook and an abstract form the same given in the first vol of Arch:Aeliana page 99. The wooden lid 26cms (10 1/4in.). With cutting from Tomlinson's Guide Wooler to Chillingham detailing the discovery on 6th March 1814 of a stone coffin on the north side of the Church of the Holy Cross Catton, containing the remains of a human body, which is supposed to have been one of the followers of Robert The Bruce who had fallen in 1318 during an invasion of Northumberland, being under excommunication, was buried in the least hallowed part of the church yard.
A collection of 19th Century rings, to include: a black enamel memorium ring with hair plait plaque, inscription and dedication, dated '1868', 18ct. yellow gold, ring size K; a seed pearl set 15ct. yellow gold ring, ring size H; a three stone diamond ring, on yellow metal mount, ring size H (very worn); a ruby and diamond ring, on 22ct. yellow gold shank, ring size J; and a pearl set knot pattern ring, on yellow metal shank with engraved decoration, ring size J 1/2.
