Lot 1015

An 18th century oak cricket table, the patinated plank top with undertier on three tapering legs 67 x 70cm (26 x 27in) These three-legged tables with a circular top originated in the 17th century and although an earlier form of the game of cricket existed at this time, it is unlikely the table is named after the game. Far more likely is that it is a derivation of the word from the early 17th century for a three-legged stool, known as a “crackett”. Like the stool, the three-legged table was comparatively steadier on uneven ground and stone flag floors in the taverns, inns and cottages, although its use outdoors, to hold your beer whilst batting, has also been noted.

Lot 102

A two stone diamond bar brooch, the two old round brilliant cut diamonds claw set in white precious metal in crossover formation to a tapered bar of yellow precious metal, engraved '18ct & Plat', clasp with safety catch, length 5.8cm, total estimated weight of diamonds 1.25cts, in period fitted case

Lot 111

Lot 128

A black opal single stone ring, the oval flat cut opal, length 15mm, displaying a rainbow range of colour - blue, green, red, orange, yellow, cerise, purple - collet set with ropetwist border, bifurcated shoulders and plain shank, size M, unmarked yellow precious metal, cased

Lot 131

A fancy coloured diamond and white diamond cluster ring, the old round brilliant cut cinnamon coloured diamond claw set in a border of nine old round and cushion cut white diamonds to carved trifurcated shoulders and plain tapered shank stamped '18ct', size P; total estimated weight of diamonds approximately 1ct, cased The ring is in excellent condition - sound, bright and clean: ready to wear and attractively presented. The diamonds are all lively and sparkling, and claws are secure. The constraints of the setting make measuring the stones difficult, but the principal diamond is estimated at approximately half a carat; it is a well-proportioned stone, probably cut in the 19th century and has a distinct culet facet. An expert would note visible inclusions without a loupe, and the clarity grade would be Piqué, but the colour and setting mean that these are not obvious to the untrained eye. The ring sits comfortably on the finger with no rough parts to snag clothing, and looks good.

Lot 139

Lot 205
