Topaz has a light to mid blue hue of fairly even saturation, with light scuffs, scratches, nicks and chips to the surface. The ring mount has general surface wear, with yellowish solder joins below the shoulders where the shank has been replaced, and small areas of porosity within the setting. A late Victorian emerald and diamond five stone ring, alternately set with graduated rectangular step-cut emeralds and Swiss-cut diamonds, the 18ct gold mount with scroll engraved gallery, hallmarked for Birmingham 1895, maker's mark D&F for Deakin & Francis, ring size MCondition report: The emeralds are well matched, of fairly vibrant mid-green hues, but each of the stones contains multiple inclusions and some surface-reaching fractures that are visible to the unaided eye. The central emerald is chipped to one corner and each of the emeralds has small nicks/chips and scuffs to the surface. The central emerald measures approx. 3.5mm length x 2.8mm width. Diamonds are well matched, bright and lively, total weight approx. 0.05ct. The ring mount has general surface wear, scuffs and nicks throughout, with a solder join/repair to one shoulder and further solder joins to the back of the shank as a result of re-sizing. Hallmarks are clearly struck. There is a further worn mark to the shank interior, possibly a model number, which is not legible. Gross weight approx. 3.2gm.

A synthetic emerald and diamond three stone ring, the circular mixed-cut synthetic emerald in rubover setting, between two similarly set old-cut diamonds, yellow precious metal mounted, total diamond weight approximately 0.50ct, ring size QCondition report: Diamonds are well matched, bright and lively, but both stones are drawing a light yellowish tint and both have localised facet edge abrasion to the crown facets. One diamond also has a small central chip, positioned just outside the table facet. Estimated SI2 to P2 clarity (due to chip) and K to M colour, assessed mounted. The edges of the diamond settings are very heavily worn, with splits and losses to the metal. The synthetic emerald is heavily scuffed to the surface and may be a later replaced stone. There is a small split to one side of the setting and the ring mount has scuffs, scratches and nicks throughout, commensurate for use. The back of the shank has been re-sized with a later added section and has associated solder joins with porosity. Metal standard is unmarked and untested. Gross weight approx. 5.5gm.

A ruby and diamond cluster ring, the cushion-shaped mixed-cut ruby collet set within a border of old and single-cut diamonds, above a scroll engraved gallery, between similarly cut diamond set shoulders, two colour precious metal mounted, (one diamond deficient, break to one shoulder), total diamond weight approximately 0.15ct, ring size KCondition report: The ruby has several large fracture inclusions and iron-stained fractures which give an orange/brown hue in places. The largest of these fractures is surface-reaching and extends diagonally through the length of the stone. The body colour of the ruby is pinkish-red, with areas of whiteish colour zoning, and the ruby has scuffs, nicks and small chips to the surface. The ruby is untested for both origin and use of treatments. Diamonds are slightly variable but most have a greyish/yellowish appearance and some stones have surface chips/fractures. One of the shoulders is broken and there is a diamond missing at this position. Diamonds graduate from approximately 0.7mm to 1mm in diameter. The shank is off-round and has been pulled to one side. The edges of the central collet setting are heavily worn, with thinning and splits in places. The scroll engraved gallery is heavily worn to each tip of the setting. The mount has considerable wear, with thinning to the back and sides of the shank and to the outer edges of the setting. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approx. 2.3gm.Ruby dimensions approximately: 7mm length x 6.5mm width x 3.9mm depth.

An aquamarine single stone ring, the rectangular step-cut aquamarine with canted corners, in four claw setting, to a tapered hoop stamped '18c', ring size MCondition report: The aquamarine has a pale greenish-blue hue and is heavily abraded with scuffs, chips and scratches. It may require professional re-polishing. The aquamarine measures approx. 13.1mm x 8.8mm width x 6.1mm depth. The mount has general surface wear and the shank has been re-sized. It is also stamped 'MB'. Gross weight approx. 7.3gm.

There is also a circular fracture to one side of the body and small areas of whiteish staining/discolouration to the other side. The yellow metal beads have surface wear and both the clasp and hinge are functioning. Diamonds are well matched and fairly bright and lively, in closed-back settings, some stones with fracture inclusions and small surface fractures that are visible under magnification. Marks are clearly struck. Width approx. 1.45cm.

Some of the fractures are surface-reaching and there is a large surface-reaching fracture to one end of the stone. The emerald has surface wear, scuffs and small nicks/chips and measures approx. 6mm length x 5.7mm width (depth unknown due to setting). Diamonds are well matched, fairly bright and lively, some stones with small nicks/chips and surface-reaching fractures. Estimated H to J colour and SI1 to P2 clarity, assessed mounted. A diamond single stone ring, the old brilliant-cut diamond in claw setting, stamped '18ct', with interior inscription, diamond weight approximately 0.70ct, ring size JCondition report: The diamond has a bright and lively appearance but has chips/naturals to the girdle, giving it an off-round appearance, and is drawing a yellowish tint. Two of the chips penetrate in to the pavilion facets. Estimated P2 clarity (due to chips) and L to M colour, assessed mounted. Diamond dimensions approximately 5.9mm length x 6mm width x 3.6mm depth. Two of the claws to the setting are broken and these will require repair/replacement. The sides of the setting are heavily worn and have been previously solder repaired. The shank has solder joins at the junctions with the setting and has been resized to the back, with an associated solder join and porosity. The shank interior is inscribed 'E.H.O - W.D.R 1.7.05'. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approx. 3.1gm.

A diamond single stone tourbillon ring, the round brilliant-cut diamond in eight claw setting, enclosed by lasque-cut diamond set crossover shoulders, with French horse's head guarantee mark and indistinct lozenge-shaped maker's mark, together with an 18ct gold court section wedding band, principal diamond weight approximately 0.50ct, ring sizes M and K respectively (2)Condition report: Diamond set ring: the principal diamond has a bright and lively appearance, with estimated VS2 to SI1 clarity and I to J colour, assessed mounted. Bordering lasque-cut diamonds have a typically greyish, dull appearance, some stone with small chips/surface-reaching fractures. The ring mount has surface wear, scuffs and nicks/chips throughout, commensurate for use, with some thinning to the edges of the tourbillon setting. The mount has solder joins at the junctions of the shank to the shoulders, possibly as a result of replacement of the shank. Marks to the outside of the shank have patchy wear. Gross weight approx. 4.5gm. Length of tourbillon setting approx. 1.3cm. Wedding band: of modern manufacture, with surface wear, scuffs and nicks throughout. Shallow court section profile to interior of band. Patchy wear to hallmarks, maker's mark 'CPM'. Width approx. 2.2mm. Gross weight approx. 2.6gm.

An early 20th century diamond set panel ring, centred with a rectangular step-cut green stone (chipped) in collet setting, within a pierced double row border of millegrain set single-cut diamonds, above a scrolled gallery, between similarly cut diamond set shoulders of pierced fleur-de-lys design, two colour precious metal mounted, total diamond weight approximately 0.30ct, ring size approximately J (shank mis-shapen)Condition report: The green stone is heavily chipped and abraded and requires replacement. Dimensions of green stone approx. 5mm length x 4mm width. The surrounding setting is damaged to the edges,and will require repair. Some of the diamonds do not quite match in size and are likely to be later replaced. Diamonds have variable colour and clarity, some stones with nicks or chips, but give an overall lively appearance. The outer edges of the setting are heavily worn and will also require repair. Dimensions of setting approx. 11mm length x 10.5mm width. The base of the setting has a split to one corner and splits to both shoulders. Both shoulders also have solder joins/repairs. The shank is mis-shapen and has worn thin; it will require replacement. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approx. 2.2gm.

Lot 235

A ruby five stone ring, the graduated cushion-shaped mixed-cut rubies in fancy claw setting, yellow precious metal mounted, stamped '18' and signed JJD, largest ruby dimensions approximately 4.4mm length x 3.8mm width x 2.4mm depth, ring size LCondition report: Rubies are mostly well matched, of mid pinkish-red hues, with overall good transparency. Most contain a combination of mineral, needle and fracture inclusions and some of these inclusions are surface-reaching. The largest ruby has a chip to one side of the crown and all stones have scuffs, scratches, small nicks/chips and facet edge abrasion. The ring mount has general wear throughout, with thinning to the tips of the claw setting and to the back of the shank. Some of the claws may require re-tipping. The back of the shank has been re-sized with a later added section, and has associated solder joins. The shank is slightly off-round. The mount is untested for metal standard. Gross weight approx. 2.5gm.Approximate sizes of outer rubies: 3.2mm length x 2.8mm width x 2mm depth; 3.8mm length x 3.4mm width x 2.3mm depth; 3.7mm length x 3.3mm width x 3mm depth; 3.2mm length x 2.8mm width x 1.7mm depth.

A lady's bracelet watch, circa 1940-50, the rectangular silvered dial with gilt Arabic quarters, signed Marvin, to a later replaced quartz movement, the case with white stone set collars and Swiss gold marks, stamped '18k 0,750', numbered 895049, on a fancy-link bracelet of Odeonesque design, case width 1.3cm, bracelet length 17.5cmCondition report: The hour hand is detached from the dial and the dial fits loosely on to the later quartz movement, which is not working. The gilt winder is later replaced. The dial has chips, scuffs and spotting. The case and bracelet have chips, nicks, scuffs, and scratches throughout. Dents to some of the bracelet links (the links are hollow). Metal standard of the bracelet is untested and the bracelet is not marked. The clasp is tight fitting. Gross weight, including movement, approx. 42.7gm.
