A late 18th Century handwritten booklet relating to a tour across America, the frontispiece inscribed "The writer of this account of a tour starting from Philadelphia in April 1796 was William, a son of the Rev. Robert Forster, Perpetual Curate of Wrenbury and brother to Richard Forster, Sargoine of Stone (Staffs), the writer represents April 4 as a Sunday but April 4 1796 was a Monday. William Forster died at Philadelphia on 18th January 1798 aged 38", the details inside account details of visiting various friends, visiting various inns, landowners etc

attributed to William Henry Hoodless (1841-1902) View of Dumfries on the River Nith with Figures and Animals beside a Stone Bridge bears a signature and dated "1874", oil on canvas, 61cm by 107cm the artist was a landscape painter in oil and watercolour. He visited fellow Cumbrian Samuel Bough in Edinburgh and Bough advised him to enter Edinburgh School of Art where he twice won prizes as a student. He worked mainly in the Lake District and is said to have walked sometimes twenty miles in a day to make a sketch. He is also said to have died following a journey to Caldbeck on foot through deep snow and three days spent sketching in the open air..
william P. Cartwright (fl.1864-1874) River Landscape with Figures on a Stone Bridge in the Foreground, sheep grazing in a meadow in the distance signed, also inscribed with the artist's name and the date "1885" on a plaque attached to the frame, oil on canvas, 30cm by 46cm the artist exhibited five rural scenes at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists between 1864 and 1874.
