AINGE LONDON 1786, pierced and engraved winged balance cock with helmeted soldier bust in profile embellishment at the neck and diamond end stone, verge escapement with chain fusée, silvered regulation and 4 pinned round baluster pillars, inner case, 40mm diameter with stirrup shaped pendant bow and convex crystal, verso plain and polished with winding aperture, 97.9g gross and presented with the winding keyCase - Outer case - 46mm diameter - Opens and closes satisfactorily with no apparent strain to the hinge. circa 1851, the signed white dial, 45mm diameter, with black Roman numerals, copper coloured fleur de lys hands, subsidiary seconds register at 6 o'clock and chemin de fer chapter ring, signed jewelled key wind movement number 8888 with diamond end stone and repeating mechanism activated by a plunger at 12 o'clock, case, 50mm diameter, verso hinged at 6 o'clock, engine turned around a central vacant and belted escutcheon shaped cartouche, interior numbered 8888, with London hallmarks for 18ct gold, and casemaker's mark of Josiah Barnett & William Waters, the cuvette similarly marked, 121.6g grossCase - Generally in good condition with no obvious sign of damage or repair. Some minor surface scratches as to be expected together with some minor staining to the reverse.Dial - Generally in good condition. A very minor hairline crack at the edge between 3 and 4 o'clock, and a further hairline crack at the edge between 9 and 10 o'clock.Movement - Not currently in working order (balance wheel moves for one or two seconds then stops) and with a three quarter plate movement it is not possible to see whether it is a quarter or minute repeating movement without removing the movement from the case, which has not been done. The activation plunger is a little stiff but does spring back when pushed.
