EDITORS, SUCCESSORS TO GOUPIL & CO. PARIS LONDON THE HAGUE. Stone was a British painter and illustrator best known for his depictions of garden parties, literary scenes, and sentimental portraits. Stone also produced illustrations for books by Charles Dickens and Anthony Trollope. Most of his works have been engraved, and medals were awarded to him at exhibitions in all parts of the world. His works are held in the collections of the Tate Gallery in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and many others. According to The Art Journal, Volume 58 (1999), "Autumn Fruits" have had a considerable sale as engravings. Presented with an antique linen matte with gilt trim in the giltwood frame. Issued: 1894 Dimensions: 45.25"W x 27.5"L framed Condition: Very good, some age related wear. Not examined out of frame.
