A rare 9th/10th century Javanese carved volcanic stone figure of Durga (Mahisasuramardini), height 45cm. Provenance: From a private collection in the South West of England. Additional InformationAs you can imagine with a piece of this age there are areas of heavy dirty inset throughout, rubbing to the raised parts. The face retains good definition which is not as strong is other areas but overall for a piece of this age in very good condition.

Splits to the plinth base and lacking any feet or moulding around the base. The movement is 30 hours and sold with a single weight and pendulum. Heavy wear to the case throughout.
