* Waugh (Evelyn, 1903-66). Autograph Letter Signed ('E. Waugh'), Combe Florey House, Taunton, 8th November 1965, to A.I. Wood, Bristol, on printed letterhead, thanking him for the enclosed photograph [of Monsignor Ronald Arbuthnott Knox's gravestone], saying that he has not seen the stone since the funeral [1957] and that it is hard to tell from the photograph 'whether the discolouration of the stone is due to lichen or a defect in the material', continuing that he would be glad to subscribe to a fund for its restoration even though this is the responsibility of the surviving relatives, but as the only relative in this country is an aged brother it might therefore be an idea to write to Lady Helen Asquith at Mells [Somerset, where Knox had lived and been a private chaplain], 'and suggest that the verger should be instucted to keep the grave-stone in good order', 1. page, 4to, together with the postmarked envelope written in Waugh's hand, plus the aforementioned colour photograph.
