DU MAURIER DAPHNE: (1907-1989) British Author. An interesting T.L.S., Daphne du Maurier, one page, 8vo, Kilmarth, Par, Cornwall, 19th January 1974, to Miss. S. Stone in New York. Du Maurier responds to her admirer's letter and provides answers to her questions in three paragraphs, in full, 'Don't Look Now. The novelette The Birds was first published in 1952 as part of Du Maurier's collection entitled The Apple Tree. The story was the inspiration for Alfred Hitchcock's film The Birds, made in 1963 in the same year which The Apple Tree was reprinted as The Birds and Other Stories.
