The sapphire is a very pretty medium cornflower blue and eye-visibly clean; with magnification, there is a straight double band of silk deep within the stone, and three small well-defined disc-like veils all towards the girdle.

Frames have been repainted with brown paint and have several areas of loss to decorative composite and gilding. The spaniel has a hole by his paws, approx 2in by 2in in size., L-shaped
