Two Scottish Skean Dhu, formally the property of Andrew Hughes (1880-1967) of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, the first having a 4ins bright steel blade, silver metal fittings, Cairngorm stone to top of hilt, and crown over cipher motif to hilt, silvery metal and leather scabbard showing manufacturers mark HT, 8ins overall and one other unmarked 8ins overall, accompanied by a period photograph of gentleman in Argyll and Sutherland dress and a book on the subjectCondition Report - The larger of the two daggers is in good overall condition commensurate with age and moderate usage, one small metallic pin (possibly holding a badge) is missing, likewise there is no badge attached to the hilt. The blade is in good condition showing only some light corrosion commensurate with age, and likewise the scabbard is also in good overall condition and bears a makers mark, ARGL. The smaller dagger is in excellent overall condition however there is some curvature to the blade, possibly deliberate to make wearing more comfortable, the scabbard is likewise is in good condition and bears the makers mark HT. The photograph is mounted on card and is in excellent condition, likewise the book which bears the inscription in the inner cover "With compliments from A R Bean".
