Am oberen Rand graviertes Wappen des Hauses Savoyen. Länge: 87 cm. Tommaso Alberto Vittorio di Savoia-Genova (Turin, 6. Februar 1854 - Turin, 15. Tommaso starb 1931 in Turin. He was placed under the guardianship of his uncle Vittorio Emanuele II, who sent him to the Harrow School in London after his education. From 31 March 1879 to 20 September 1881, in the rank of frigate captain, then promoted to ship's captain during the crossing, he sailed as commander of the corvette Vettor Pisani, the Italian warship in its third oceanic reconnaissance voyage around the world. On April 15th 1883 he married Isabella von Bayern (1863-1924) at Schloss Nymphenburg in Munich. In 1915, when Italy entered World War I, Victor Emanuel III decided to go to the front from Rome, entrusted Thomas with some of his royal functions and appointed him lieutenant-general of the kingdom. However, the office was almost exclusively honorary and did not involve the effective exercise of power. However, in those days, the royal decrees were called Lieutenant Decrees and bore the signature of Prince Thomas instead of the King's.
