Onu was active around 1920-1930 producing sculptures in the Art Deco period and style. Onu’s work features athletically built female forms atop marble and stone bases. Onu created work for the Parisian foundry Les Neveux de Jules Lehmann making a number of bronzes and ivy sculptures. Other works of Onu’s come from the foundry Edmond Etling. In 1924 Onu was featured at the Salon of the Societe des Artistes Francais, showcasing her work Bacchante au Thyrse. This lot is a prime example of Aurore Onu’s work.CONDITIONThe sculpture is in good condition.
