Großer Tafelaufsatz für König Georg V. von Hannover, datiert 1868 Silber, Schale partiell vergoldet, am Fuß die Feingehaltspunze "750", Meistermarke "BESTENBOSTELL" und "CELLE" für Friedrich Wilhelm von Bestenbostell (1828 - 1870). Runder Fuß mit breit ausladendem Rand. Schaft vollplastisch in Form eines Eichenbaumes mit Blättern gearbeitet. Stand mit plastisch gearbeiteter Naturlandschaft mit Tannen und graviertem Gras. Auf der Schauseite sitzt ein junger Hirte strickend am Baumstumpf. Er ist von seinem Hund und seinen Ziegen umgeben. An einem Stein lehnt das Wappen des Königshauses von Hannover auf einem goldenen Schild. Die Rückseite zeigt eine Hütte mit drei Bienenkörben. Abnehmbare Silberschale partiell vergoldet und mit einer Blattgirlande verziert. Am Fuß in Widmungsgravur "Die Eingesessenen des Amtes Bergen b/Celle dem geliebten Königspaare zum 18th Februar 1868". Höhe 46 cm, Gewicht 2700 g. Dieser Tafelaufsatz wurde anlässlich des 25. Hochzeitstages des Königspaares Georg V. von Hannover und Marie von Sachsen-Altenburg gefertigt. Vgl. W. Round foot with extended rim. The shaft in the shape of a three-dimensional oak tree with leaves. The pedestal with sculpted natural landscape with fir trees and engraved grass. On the obverse a knitting young shepherd sitting by a tree stump, surrounded by his dog and goats. The coat of arms of the royal house of Hanover on a golden shield leaning against a stone. The reverse shows a hut with three beehives. Removable silver bowl partly gilt and decorated with a leafy garland. The foot with engraved dedication (tr.) "From the inhabitants of the district of Bergen near Celle to their beloved royal couple on 18th February 1868". Height 46 cm, weight 2700 g.This table centrepiece was manufactured on the occasion of the 25th wedding anniversary of King George V and his wife Marie of Saxony-Altenburg. Cf. W. Will Spankie (b.1967) Compass birdbath Purbeck stone and oak plinth, 2018 45cm high x 40cm across. Horatio's Garden will receive 50% of the hammer price. The ideas behind Will's sculptural work are often influenced by organic forms, material and the environment. He is interested in the geometric structures, patterns, symmetry and proportion found both in nature and the unfolding of numbers in space. Other pieces have an historical element to them, either on a personal level or as part of the commissioning process with the client. Will works predominantly in stone and wood because they are durable, lovely to carve and have their own innate beauty. He also teaches stone carving and letter cutting courses on a private basis, in schools, prisons and through local adult education colleges. Will is a Friend of the Edward Johnston Foundation and a member of the Landcape and Art Network. He exhibits regularly at the Garden Gallery, near Stockbridge in Hampshire and the Montcrieff - Bray Gallery, Petworth, West Sussex.
