JOHN F LEWIS "Lewis's Sketches and Drawings of the Alhambra made during a residence in Granada in the years 1833 - 4, drawn on stone by JD Harding, RJ Lane, ARA, W.Gauci & John F Lewis", published 1835 Hodgson Boys & Graves, London, print sellers to the King, 6 Pall Mall, with dedication "to the most noble Arthur, Duke of Wellington KG & C & C & C, containing 26 plates, clothboard bound with tooled and gilded leather spine (Provenance: formerly the property of Richard Hungerford Pollen Bart) CONDITION REPORTS Some foxing to all pages. All plates present (according to the contents page). Age realted wear and tear. SOme scuffs to the ages of the paper, some folded over sections to the thinner paper. General wear and tear.
An 18 carat gold and platinum set five stone ring with three diamonds, approx 0.09 carats total, interspersed by two emeralds approx 0.14 carats total, size L/M, together with another similar five stone ring, the central diamonds approx 0.15 carats total, flanked by two smaller emeralds, approx 0.03 carats total, size L
19TH CENTURY ITALIAN SCHOOL "African street traders in an alleyway", watercolour, heightened with white, unsigned, bears labels verso, 52 cm x 37 cm CONDITION REPORTS General wear, dirt and yellowing. Quite a lot of foxing and brown stains. The painting bears some indistinct marks / brush strokes to the bottom left paving stone - please see photos.
A gold necklace set with two diamond headed snakes with turquoise bead decoration and diamond set leaf forms to turquoise and single carat diamond pendant, approx 24 cm long CONDITION REPORTS Width of diamond pendant approx 6mm. Turquoise to the snakes various from pale blue to dark green. Approx width of the oval oval turquoise centre stone is approx 8mm. The diamond pendant appears to be of a more modern cut than those to the snake and leaf decoration. Overall with some wear and scuffs and scratches, and some tarnish and irregularities to the snakes.
A George V silver photograph frame with applied cabochon turquoise stone to top (Liberty & Co., Birmingham, 1916), stamped "5269" to top, bears Liberty swing tag inscribed "5269 27/6" to back, 17.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Surface scratches and marks and tarnish, especially to bottom corners. There are some small dents in the top where the pins have gone in. General wear and tear.
A Victorian gilt metal mounted cabochon cut turquoise and diamond brooch, the mount of foliate form, approx 1.9 cm diameter CONDITION REPORTS The turquoise has several cracks and flaws to the stone. We cannot comment on the colour or clarity of the diamonds and would recommend viewing in person prior to bidding. Dirt, surface scratches, tarnish. Approx. 4.3gms total (gross) weight.
An 18 carat gold five stone diamond ring in the Victorian manner, approx 1.5 carats total, size O/P with spacer CONDITION REPORTS The central stone appears to have been remounted as claws are visible to the outside edge on both sides. General wear, dirt. One of the two medium sized diamonds has a chip to it. The larger diamond has an inclusion which is visible with the naked eye, as does the diamond with the chip in it, and the other stones have inclusions visible with a magnifying glass. All stones have surface scratches. We cannot comment on the colour or clarity of the diamonds and would recommend viewing in person prior to bidding. Approx. 4.1gms total weight. The largest diamond is approx. 6mm in diameter and depth 3mm, smallest of the five stones in approx. 3mm, (unable to measure the depth) althought each of these stones is interspersed by 2 very small stones/chips (8 of these in total)
ALICE VAN HEDDEGHEM (Exhib 1906-27) "Scattered roses and hyacinths upon a stone ledge", oil on canvas, signed lower right, 38.5 cm x 117 cm (ARR) CONDITION REPORTS Image has some light scratches, there is also a line running all the way along horizontally visible at certain angles - possible flaw in the canvas exaggerated by the paint. Under UV light there is a darker patch just left of centre in the top half - possible repainting. Some cracking to paintwork especially in the central area. Has general wear and tear. Frame has general wear and tear to include some splits.Canvas has been cut to back and probably reframed. See images for further details.
