Himotoshi through the back and underside.HEIGHT 2.8 cmCondition: Very good condition, minor wear.Provenance: European collection.The famous wrestler Matanô Gorô throws a large stone at his rival Sanada Yoichi, a vassal of Minamoto Yoritomo (1147-1199), during a hunting trip of the commander Yoritomo. Yoichi effortlessly catches this and throws it back. But Asahina Saburô, who was in the service of Minamoto Yoshitsune (1159-1189), is also said to have demonstrated his enormous strength during the same hunting expedition by hurling a two-meter stone into the sea.
