* A Japanese Meiji Period Polearm (Naginata), the 36.5cm curved steel head with two red lacquer grooves (hi) to each side, secured by silvered habaki, nashiji lacquer haft (ebu) with gold lacquered mon with silvered and bronze mounts and metal pommel (ishizuki), 225cm overall The naginata was generally used for the guards of princes and sometimes has a banner-like cover of brocade or plain cloth, usually with the owner`s mon embroidered on it.
