N14; Unfinished Upper Course Stone, Open Tracery – This stone was intended for N14 on the north side of the tower but was never used. During the initial carving process, before the stone could be decorated with tracery, a clay deposit was uncovered within the stone that left a hole on the back of the right ‘leg’. Unfortunately this left the stone structurally unfit to sit atop the tower but is otherwise a sturdy, well designed piece. No Number Identity; Mullion Stone – This stone would have made up part of a mullion pillar. These can be seen quite clearly from the ground as the shafts all over the parapet. The distinctive cross shape on the stone would have been filled with lead to fix the stone in its place.
